Anyone noticed he is now third choice GK at Sunderland - obviously he has not impressed MON. Not that we have any hope of seeing him play for CCFC again.

Well, he needed a bigger club so he can overtake Shay Given as Irish number 1. Believed his own press I guess.

Good! I'd rather be playing league one football every week than not playing any football at all. No matter what the money.

All the best

He's got a wrist injury hasn't he?

Made the step up to a bigger club, not playing first team football but he's still only young and has certainly got the potential.

His level is certainly above us.

He's 27, definitely needs to be playing football at this stage of his career. Why he'd sign for a club that already have 2 good premier league keepers is beyond me.

He could've played at a better level championship club on a regular basis and been competing for promotion. This may have been a better option for him.

The longevity of the goalkeeper position means he's only a pup in comparison to other positions.

Sunderland obviously offered him a great deal and he believed in his ability. DOn't think he'll stay at Sunderland but certainly think he can do a job for a lower Prem/upper Championship side.

For instance Leicester, would you take Kasper or Westwood considering we have seen them both? No brainer for me.

Martin O'Neil has his favourites. He rarley changes his XI so if Westwood's face does not fit then he is unlikely to get a look in. I genuinely believe had Westwood not joined the Irish contingent he would be talked about as an England squad standard goalkeeper. The guy kept us up and we should be grateful he stayed as long as he did with us.

Whenever I saw him play for Sunderland he seemed to be continuing his with his consistently high form. Westwood is a far better goalkeeper technically than Oggrizovic ever was and because of that, he should be considered as one of our best.

I he had been playing for us this season I guarantee we'd not be in the bottom 3 at the moment.

Westwood is a top keeper. He is youing and being down the pecking order at Sunderland will just mean a loan deal somewhere next year but he will defo be a premership starter in the future.

When Westy has played for Sunderland hes made some world class saves, nevermind Premier league class. I cant remember exactly how he did it, but I vaguely remember him making a handful of quality saves against Man Utd. What better stage to perform on.

It's nice that most people aren't being snide and bitter about a player who signed, fulfilled his contract to the best of his ability and then moved on to try and better himself further.

Westwood WAS playing at Sunderland (after injury to Mignolet) and doing well....Westwood fell ill for a game and Mignolet had to play in a protective mask...did well and kept his place.
I'm sure everybody can see now exactly how good he was/is. Unsure as have not checked the press why he didnt feature this weekend in their squad.
In my opinion he IS a better GK than Mignolet.

He did do pretty well when he got his chance, but that Mignolet fella has proven himself when he reclaimed the shirt so KW was always going to drop back Down the pecking order. I would take a guess at him not being on the bench is through injury though.

We can definately see how spoilt we were when we had him, now that we don't! Love him or loath him, he is a quality keeper.

Shame we couldn't get him on a cheeky loan deal!

It is a huge shame for him, played well when he got his chance but now seems to be back to sub. He deserves his chance and is a prem standard keeper imo.

Westwood was fantastic for us. Murphy is your usual Championship standard keeper and nowhere near as good as Westwood, he is a Prem quality keeper and will prove it one day. At 27 (as mentioned) he is still a youngster for a keeper so has time on his side.

I reckon we'd have gone down in previous seasons if we didn't have Westwood. Some of the saves he made were out of this world. I wish him all the best wherever he goes.

There's a strong argument for him being our best player since relegation.
