Only positive thing here is that surely Belgium can't keep breaking away at that sort of pace all 90 mins.

Hopefully they will run out of steam and then we can go in for the kill.
They aren't even in second gear are they?

Nope, but when they break they are going like the clappers.

England's problem all tournament has not been taking chances. Kane should have scored and maybe we would be at 1-1.

Awful there.

We had the ball high up the pitch and had no clue what to do and then gave the ball away AGAIN!!

The only positive in that first half is we are only 1 down.
How many times have Stones, McGuire or Jones blocked shots.

Too much reliant on kane and sterling, stubbornness.

We didn't set up to attack, not with that midfield

This ! I'm all for coaching ball retention. But. Last minute of half, a goal down, and no-one had confidence to play it into area (until Maguire had a go - admittedly poor pass, but the rest all abdicated responsibility)!

I wasn't expecting much but goodness me that was bad. 2nd to pretty much everything, and our passing has been absolutely attrocious.

Well, if we set up to negate their pace on the counter, it's not working because we're too sloppy with the ball. They musty be licking their lips every time they get it.

If Southgate wanted to win it he should probably sub Kane, bit whoever is up top needs some service played into them. We get to the edge of the box, then turn backwards.

England slow, ponderous, devoid of ideas, giving the ball away far too easily. Kane gets one decent chance and can't even hit the target. Belgium are a class above us in every department.
Loftus-Cheek seems like an improvement but Danny Rose has already been exposed several times.

To get some perspective, last night I watched several England games from past World Cups from the 70's to the 90's, and I have to say we have NOT made progress.
Back then we had good solid, dynamic players, and great strikers. Players who would run at defenders with the ball. The current team has to be one of the weakest we've ever had.
I'm convinced we only reached the semis due to being in a weak group and then lucking into the easiest path possible.
There have been a few bright moments but when you take a step back and look at this team, it is woefully weak in so many areas.

Before the influx of foreign players into the premier league, we had hundreds of top flight English players to choose from, now we are scraping the barrel. Centre-forward? Who is there other than Kane and Vardy? Welbeck can't even get a starting place for his club. Same thing for midfielders and defenders.

The system doesn't work. It's been covered up by Southgate wearing a waist coat and hugging his wife.

What is Southgate doing?

I would have left Sterling on and taken Dier or Delph off.

Not sure this is going to help any.

Kane, even though he has 6 goals, just hasn't been the deadly Harry Kane we all know and love.

Bit of a shadow of his normal self.
