Ha Baker made it into the start xi the bloke is totally and utterly useless! :(

Clingan, Thomas, Christie, McDonald......all should have started ahead of him!!
Can someone explain why he starts ahead of those and why he is better?

I sincerely hope however he makes me eat my words and scores a hat-trick ......go on the boys.

Come on Boys!

He's not or ever has been a right midfielder he can't cross for toffee and his success at Stockport was from playing just behind the front two not out on the right.

Are Clingan, Thomas & Christie not right footed....would rather see Christie there pacier and can deliver?

cause he's the only other RM we have all of those would be out of position

Why can footballers only play in certain positions? What do they do in training. I played in most positions when i played apart from centre back (height issues, altough did play as part of a back 3 for 45 mins), I could use both feet comfortably aswell. Now i never played to any high standard but it baffles me that professional footballers whoose job it is to play football and get paid handsomely to do so become so rigid and one dimensional when taking to the pitch.

On his weaker foot, out of position, needs a rest, needs more games F**K OFF......

please note swearing is not aimed at you SBG

doesn't explain why they dont train or practice to kick with their other foot though does it. it's not rocket science. they play at a billion times higher level yet can only kick with one foot, come on man, no-one can stick up for that really. and it weren't my school but thats not the point.

Now frame this one because I actually agree with you. He even won a header at one point I thought I must have caught Thorn's virus.

Hi Chaps,

It seems I stand corrected about Baker.....I have to say I am glad I was proved wrong....can he retain level of performance in terms of consistency till the end of the season though?

Despite his performance overall the result was a little disappointing.....need to try to get 3 points from Brum at home now....easier said than done though!

MOTM may be strecthing it but played really well tonight and one of his better performances for a while. I think one thing that stood out for me is he didn't cross the ball very often tonight as his crossing is generally appalling, instead he tried to dribble cutting inside and play other players in instead, which worked.

Funny how we all see things differently; I thought Baker was great tonight. :(

His best performance in a cov shirt this season.
He chased everything, actually put in a few decent tackles.
Beat the man very well, some of his balls were low but dangerous, and best of all bar one he didn't give the ball away.

Well done bakes we know what you can do when you try, keep it up!

Not sure if you have skipped over it but this thread was at the beginning of the match, a few posts above the OP has said he stands corrected tonight and hopes he can keep up the level of performance for the rest of the season.

Fair play for correcting yourself I've heard nothing but abuse for baker at the ricoh recently and it don't help him, he did play well tonight let's hope he keeps it up, city fans need to support our players

I thought he was unfairly dropped after four impressive performances over Christmas and up to Derby, along with the rest of the team ,coupled with his recall at forrest i think coinciding with the anniversary of his brothers death, when in reality the whole team were a letdown,he sure showed what he's capable of tonight ,very tricky when dribbling into the box and i think his assist for the goal tonight.:D

Totally agree, thorn to blame for his bad performances before today, he started to hit form, then was dropped out of the squad?

Good to hear he produced the goods today, I have to admit would personally have started one of the bench players ahead of him before game started but I did say hope he proves me wrong and get a hattrick at the start of this thread!

Hell if I knew we would get three points on Saturday I would happily berate the whole starting XI Thorn picks and eat a large slice of humble pie after! :)

I don't know why and based on nothing I think we can beat Watford away.....I am sure this may come back to haunt me though but just have a feeling about that one!

Looks like it helped him last night.

Imo he deserved the abuse as he's been lightweight and unable to pass, shoot, cross or run. Equally, all the praise heaped on him for last night is deserved. Hope he keeps this form up though - I was very impressed with him, Cody and Murphy last night.

Maybe the Boo-ing worked....and put a boot up his arse!

It's unlike me to advocate shouting abuse at a player; but In Baker's case I think it has been warranted. For the talent he has, not to mention being quick and over 6ft, the guy should produce a lot more.

His problem is a mental one. He's too nice a guy to get stuck in every week. It took a load of abuse to get him to give 100%.

Let's hope he keeps this new found committment up for the remainder of the season.
