Exactly.

We really can't have put all the eggs in that basket to wait until the last day for them to say "Sorry, not for sale HAHAHAHAHAHAA LOLZ".

If we have, the new recruitment guy should probably clear his desk and Robins would have some questions to answer.

It should be that we say "We will wait until Wednesday, let us know"

Tuesday comes and some random striker rumours get fed ;)

Pompey will think "shit, they are going elsewhere here"

In the meantime Robins and the recruitment bloke are looking at a few different ones and speaking to their clubs to get a basic idea on what it would take for us to get them, Pompey either don't reply on Weds or piss about and by Thurs we go ahead with one of the other options.

At some point Chaplin has to decide if he wants to go as well. I can't imagine that he will be happy to sit on the bench for another year again, if he wants to leave he needs to tell them and force it through.

There is that also.

From everything being said it seems like he is very keen to come to us, it just depends how much he wants to speak out about it and upset Portsmouth and their fans.

It's a bit different from McNulty as Chaplin has been at Pompey since he was 6.

Don't have any definite info but sometimes deals happen on the last or first day of a month for contractual reasons

It has to really be today or tomorrow we tell them it's all or nothing and then walk away.

You would really like to think while this has been going on we have been looking at alternative options and getting them sorted so if he doesn't work out we can just go for plan B. It would be very naive of Robins and the new recruitment guy to put so must trust into Portsmouth.

Its probably already been pointed out somewhere on here but MR said this yesterday.
“Hopefully our patience will pay off.
“We have got something else in the pipeline that could come to fruition very, very quickly, so there is still a lot of work going on and still a lot of work to go under the bridge in the next few days.”

Work under the bridge?
We are signing the Billy Goats Gruff?

Is Robins having a dig at the new recruitment guy in yesterday article?

Everything seemed to go smoothly last pre season with Widdrington, but with him saying ‘I keep on at the recruitment team’ suggests he might be getting a little frustrated?

Maybe seemed a little that way. Sounds frustrated.

I've heard we may be interested in this Conor Chaplin fella. Any truth in it? Anyone heard anything at all?

Quick smash and grab job under the radar perhaps?

Never heard of him, personally

I got the same impression as you. You can always tell with Robins, a bit like when he starts making odd comments towards Geoff Foster.

This Chaplin issue does now need sorting now one way or the other not so much people on this website I think we are a bit smarter generally but fans are beginning to wilt a bit, I’ve had a couple unconnected who have belly ached about transfers, money and sisu saying they have trousered the Maddison & McNulty money despite getting extra dosh from Wembley and almost doubling season ticket revenue. The sisu record rightly or wrongly goes before them now in a lot of fans minds.

so many early deals. striker forces way out and replacement not being instant=bad recruitment team

cov fans lol

I'm not sure people are saying that (on here at least). The comment was that it seemed Robins was having a dig at the recruitment team.

Apologies if this has been posted but just read this on the Telegraph website about what Kenny Jackett has said
Kenny Jackett, meanwhile, is remaining relaxed over Pompey’s own pursuit of players, clearly in no rush to off-load Chaplin.

The Blues boss admitted the loan market could now become a key area in completing his recruitment.

If Robins hasn't gone after a new target now then he is an idiot

4 days until the season starts and we don't have a goalscoring striker having sold our top scorer 3 weeks ago. Absolutely shocking recruitment policy.
