If Chaplin really wanted to come here, he'd force the hand of Pompey. I'm not convinced he really wanted to move to be honest.

Oh well, trust in MR to get someone else in.

Should have moved on a week or two ago and see if it forced their hand we have been dictated to by Portsmouth

This whole pulling the plug thing is an attempt to force Portsmouth's hand. Like a second-hand car salesman saying he's got other interested people coming in an hour.

Are people still going to pretend that selling McNulty without having a replacement lined up was a good thing? What an awful recruitment strategy

Don’t worry, according to lots on here we’ve got hundreds of thousands of pounds to spend because Robins said “we don’t have millions to spend”...

It’s worrying. We really need a striker in now. Happy with Robins recruitment with the rest of the squad mind and at least (according to Turner’s article today) he’s realised a week or so before the deadline that Chaplin isn’t going to happen. Mogga would of had us holding out until ten minutes before the deadline.

According to the Pompey side we had offered £400k for Chaplin so that indicates we do have hundreds of thousands to spend

It is always great when people talk shite and just make things up to cover it. What was actually said was when you said he has nothing to spend (as in £0) it was pointed out what Robins actually said.

I'm not too sure the Chaplin thing is over just yet, this might be the "bluff" approach to see if Pompey shit themselves.

I hope we sign Chaplin, if we don’t, do you see us spending any money (not including nominal fees etc) on any alternative players?

Portsmouth are playing a dangerous game here. £400k for a player who doesn’t start and is out of contract at the end of this year is a very fair deal. If the player doesn’t get first team football, by January his value will half. It also seem Portsmouth are dependent on any fee for a replacement too, which makes this scenario even more stupid on their part.

The same thing could’ve happened to us had we decided to keep McNulty here against his wishes. It’s generally a good idea to sell a player at the peak of their value, Portsmouth are risking losing it all with Chaplin. So I’m glad Robins is putting his foot down, one way or the other.

I don't care if they spend a million or get somebody on a free or a loan as long as it is the right player who fits with how Robins wants to play which means we win more games ;)
