What is the obsession with transfer fees?

I'd prefer another mcnulty than someone who costs £1m and is shite.

Or spend the money on wages for a good player out of contract than an average player we have to pay to get out of contract.

Think people need to stop wishing this was a game of football manager/FIFA

Getting a 28 goal a season striker like McNulty on a free was the exception, not the norm. How many other goalscorers of his calibre are out there for free? And at this stage in the window, likelihood is they’ve been signed up already by someone.

I think you’re the one living in fantasy land, believing that a week before the transfer deadline that there’s a striker sat there like McNulty ready to go on a free transfer. All ironic really, as your username points to the Irishman who was one of our most expensive transfers in the last 20 years... and managed 12 league goals.

Now hurry up and tell us who this regen is that’s sat ready to sign for free and score 28 goals for us?

28 goals in league one or two? You are assuming he would have done that this year

Are people still going to pretend that selling McNulty without having a replacement lined up was a good thing? What an awful recruitment strategy
Are people still going to pretend that we should have forced a player to stay after being told he would cause disruption if we didn't let him go?

Been reported our marathon chase for Pompeys Conor Chaplin has been scrapped.
Fans have seen around 4 million drop into ccfc coffas and extra season ticket sales, also the sisu business that made a loss last year coincidently turn those losses into nearly a £3million profit.
Also reported we are now looking elsewhere but if we can’t secure a deal for a Portsmouth reserves how can us fans have confidence on others arriving.?Fickle fans are bound to look at yet again talk and no action from our owner.
Now I know some will point out the Maddison, McNulty, season ticket and Wembley money came in after the accounts were done but surely that should help if added to this £3million+ profit. I didn’t expect us to spend thousands on fees for players but thought landing a reserve not too difficult, maybe it’s Portsmouth being awkward or maybe it’s the player, going to be and interesting couple of days upto kick-off or next weeks deadline. It’s all very frustrating for us supporters.

You do realise the profit wasn't CCFC don't you?

Maybe Robins is fed up waiting around for Portsmouth to decide what they're doing. Maybe Robins doesn't think Chaplin is worth what Portsmouth want.
What any of this has to do with Sisu profits I don't know.
As for the Sisu profit, it's been explained on other threads that it's not CCFC profit. You've obviously read the bullshit and swallowed it.

Leon clarke was a free transfer. Mcgoldrick cost nothing and Wilson was through the ranks. When did we last spend on a successful striker? Robbie Keane?

Don't worry guys Robins is pulling the triple bluff

An interesting move by Coventry to state they are no longer interested. It is a move to encourage Pompey to let Chaplin leave. Pompey were banking on Chaplin leaving after a replacement is found however this move from Coventry is set to speed up the process. #PUSB #PUP'

We didn't pay a transfer fee for Armstrong, Wilson or McGoldrick did we? There's nothing to say that somebody who comes in on a free or loan can't hit 20.

McNulty's record in L1 is 9, 0, 1, 1. Was far from guaranteed he'd bang in 23 goals again this season.

Sure in an ideal world we would have kept him and added another potential 20 a season forward but once he was determined to go and his agent made it clear he would not be cooperative if forced to stay what were we supposed to do? Force him to stay and have someone being a disruptive influence around the squad?

Bloke is like a random echo ;)

It is always great when people talk shite and just make things up to cover it. What was actually said was when you said he has nothing to spend (as in £0) it was pointed out what Robins actually said.

I'm not too sure the Chaplin thing is over just yet, this might be the "bluff" approach to see if Pompey shit themselves.

Heard he is going to Bradford.

He did it last time there were rumours on here about Sterling.

His pics are all stock photos...

People still fall for it and think it's serious though.

Unfortunately it isn’t, most fans don’t read websites see we have had fees and season ticket moneyand and then read losses were turned into profit a sum similar to what we received in fees , directors have awarded themselves massive payments too, might not be 100% accurate, they then remember the past.

You do realise you are talking about different companies and merging them? I gave you the link to understand it properly.

What's your game? ;)

I know they are different companies many fans don’t though but I also know they have the same owner, they do don’t they ? What I’m saying lots supporters see a main man leave and not yet replaced. They then read published accounts don’t separate them, remember what they see as past sisu attitude to team strengthening and make knee jerk decisions, that’s what fans do.
