I’m assuming then that you used Elliott’s regularly then?

If the amount of people moaning actually used the place and made it a profitable business maybe it wouldn’t have been sold.

Just a thought.

Daft comment. What if you’re not into cars or have one on a lease where all maintenance is covered?

*rant incoming*
I’m a Cov lad, love this place, but the city and it's local population has a massive fucking chip on its shoulder that for some reason we can’t seem to get rid off.
All I read lately is how shit this city is becoming and how it’s not like it was! I grew up in or in the 80’s and 90’s and it was a shithole. An absolute shit hole. I honestly don’t know where all this rose tinted glasses perspective comes from!
There is more going on now in Cov than ever before and people still do nothing but whine. The same people who moan are also the same people who do nothing for this city. No decent restaurants, nowhere to shop blah blah, well believe it or not businesses are there to make money and if it is not profitable they either close down or don’t open at all. If you aren’t spending money there and making it profitable then why would they open? Simple case of supply and demand.
People moaning in recent weeks about Elliott’s and Etna’s closing down but no fucker ever uses them so what do you expect?
Say what you want about the Universities, and many do, but the money, jobs and life they are pumping into this city is massive. If you think the likes of the new restaurants, coffee shops and clothes shops are opening just to tap into the local Coventry population you are very much mistaken. If again you hold on to this antiquated view that students pay no council tax and just live on pot noodles and cider then you really need to give your head a wobble.
I was up town last night and it was actually quite busy. And when I say quite busy I mean for Cov. If it was any other big city you would say it was dead. However, give it two months and the city will come alive again with the influx of around 16,000/17,000 young educated people from all over the world descending on it yet the same moaning old cunts will sit in their local boozer moaning about the good old days and doing their shopping on Amazon and going for meals in fucking Kenilworth.
The sooner this city sheds the ‘If it wasn’t for the Germans’ mentality and has a bit of local pride the fucking better.

Just does, nobody else had mentioned it being student housing so I did.
Just does isn’t an argument really though is it. WHY does it take the piss?
Oh and my shitty iPad has changed the font on my rant above so if you could change it back to normal that would be great. If that’s not taking the piss.

Highfield Road - Gone
Jimmy Hill - Gone
Ernie Hunt - Gone
Elliotts Car Accessories - Gone

Things are changing all the time - not particularly for the better though!
End of an era for Cov car accessories firm Elliotts

Yeah oh for the days of war, rationing, no votes for women, homosexuality being illegal, fans throwing bananas at black players from the terraces and Jimmy fucking Saville! Ah the good old days. Everything is shit now, :wideyed:

Then why would you be bothered if it was closing?

I didn’t say I was bothered. I said it’s a shame because it’s been there for my entire life and I was brought up nearby. It’s a place family members have used. It’s part of the fabric of the area in some ways.

However, it is a business and sentiment and fond memories doesn’t put food on the table.
