Apparently we have had a bid accepted for the Walsall striker according to Aidan McCartney (who used to be the CT journo) Bristol Rovers have also had a bid accepted.

Stats look less than impressive on paper. Not sure we need another for the future really

Looks to be in the biamou / JCH mould rather than Chaplin. Looks to create more than he scores from that

Going loco down with Bakayoko. 119 games 14 goals. NAH MATE. We’ve got a 1 in 4 striker who’s shite so we’re fine thanks

Definitely not the man we need.

Just don't see the fit to be honest. We've just signed JCH permanently and put Biamou on a longer term deal. Doesn't seem like the kind of striker Robins would be looking for unless it's a signing for the under 23s.

Going to be no win here isn't it

Sign him - He is shit and never scores.
He goes to Bristol - We got outbid, they offered him more. Shit.
Shows how far we've fallen losing out on players to Bristol Rovers. Where's the Maddison and McNulty money gone if we can't even outbid Bristol Rovers for a 1 in 10 striker?

Must admit he is a bit of a confusing one.

Would we want to be bidding for Walsall's first striker and competing with Bristol Rovers to put him in the U23's?

If not, then where does he fit in with Biamou / JCH. Ponticelli I assume would go out on loan but with 3 target men type players we have 1 on the bench and 1 not making the squad.

Saying that, Widdrington must also obviously see something in him...

He's 3rd choice for them behind Andy Cook and Ferrier.

It does seem weird. Plenty of Walsall fans on their forum questioning his work ethic too. Not really what you want to hear about a striker who would be playing up top on his own. Would make the decision to extend Biamou's contract as well as sign JCH look bizarre.

Hopes Robins doesn’t get desperate and do a Mowbray and sign any old fucker

Again, Mowbray did that with the whole team, not one player. I don't think that'll happen. I think the desperation option would be a loan after the window shuts. I can only see this as a possible developmental signing, if it's true.

Could it be a smoke screen to panic Pompey? Robins apparently still keen on chaplin and not ruling him out just yet

I wonder if Biamous contract extension was in his contract if we got promoted
