O Brien - 5 - Made some good stops, couple of wayward kicks under pressure
Grimmer - 4 - Can see why he was kept out, gave the ball away so many times just aimlessly running
Davies - 5 - Had a good battle, won a fair few headers and good tackles
Hyam - 5 - Think he got shown up at this level tonight, was constantly getting done for pace. Didnt help no midfield in front (same with Davies)
Brown 5 - A few good touches and got forward much better when Shipley came on
Ogogo - 5 - Felt sorry for him, constantly outnumbered and trying to do everything for the whole midfield. No support at all
Bayliss - 5 - Extra point for his attacking play, often tried to do too much and gave it away which put us under instant pressure and usually outnumbered. Defensively he was nowhere near
Sterling - 2 - Got his boots dirty, absolute waste of time and shocking he wasn't dragged off sooner. All for giving him a chance and he may well have been out of position but was stupid
Bakayoko - 5 - Actually thought he did well, showed his pace and strength and won a lot and pressed their defenders to put them under pressure. Still not playing to his strengthes
Hiwula - 3 - Clearly not a left midfielder, no idea why it is persisted that he plays there.
Biamou - 5 - Ran all game, battled and tried for every header. Pointless though as we had 4 up front but nobody picking up any second balls. Looked pretty pissed off, ended up on the right of midfield

JCH - 4 - Think Robins was raving about him, was a bit of a nuisance running about but that was it
Ponticelli - 5 - Made a difference because he was played next to Biamou rather than out wide, when he came on we put it into the channels a bit more (which we should have done about 2 games ago).
Shipley - 5 - Always wanted the ball, should start at the weekend depending on which random formation we play

Robins - 2 - No idea what game he was watching or what he was trying to do. It's as if he wants to try and fit random players so they can all play when it clearly doesn't work. Tactically outdone again, he had no idea what to do to address it. Should spend his time watching videos of how quickly Oxford got the ball up the pitch and pressuring us. I'm starting to think Viveash might be trying to run the show.

Puzzled by your view of Grimmer. I thought he had plenty of zip down the right and defended well. Both goals came on the left. I like Ogogo, but he gave the ball away alot in the second half

He gave it away far too often, was predictable and no end product at all. He would get the ball, put his head down and run without really seeing what was on.

Yep, second half Ogogo gave the ball away a hell of a lot. Didn't help he had about 3 players round him though as soon as he got it and was trying to do the work of 3 players.

Well done Nick..pretty much spot on although I'd rate Grimmer as high as 5.

Saw signs today that Bakayoko is actually a footballer. Still need pinching we paid a fee for him.

My big hope for the season Hiwula...utter dissapointment.

Totally disillusioned.

The forward Recruitment has been poor taking chances on Un-proven forwards with poor goal records.its almost like it’s been a panic trying to replace McNulty, can’t see where the goals are coming from.

O Brien - 5 - Should have come for the first, tempted to drop him a mark as he doesn't command his area well at all, defence don't seem to trust him. Bring Burge back
Grimmer - 5 - Possibly unfit, didn't seem himself and made a few poor decisions. Was suggested to me tonight that he's been on the booze all summer celebrating promotion and getting engaged.
Davies - 6 - Heads almost everything coming into the box, looks better with Willis' pace alongside to mop up
Hyam - 4 - Shows why he's 3rd/4th choice bad decision making allowing strikers too much time. Made a couple of good last ditch tackles but wouldn't have had to if he didn't let the striker get away from him or was position correctly
Brown 5 - Surprisingly good in the air but the goals came from his side. Looks like he's never met his teammates. Good crossing ability.
Ogogo - 4 - Looked good in his first two games but terrible tonight, simple things going wrong and Doyle needs to teach him how to be proper leader.
Bayliss - 6 - and that's generous. incredible bit of play in the first half to take 6 men out of the game and put Baka or Hiwula through but his control and passing was generally way off what we've come to expect from him.
Sterling - 2 - Agree with Nick, forgot he was on the pitch.
Bakayoko - 6 - Fought well and is pacy for a big man, put some pressure on their defence first half. Needs to play up top though
Hiwula - 5 - Our most likely goal scorer, played wide left, didn't really do much but not marking him too harshly as it appears he's being asked to do an unfamiliar job
Biamou - 5 - Occasional winning headers he had no right to and forcing defenders into errors. Occasional letting the ball bounce of his arse for a throw in, Biamou

JCH - 6 - Did well, won headers and didn't chuck himself to the floor, we looked more of a unit when he came on.
Ponticelli - 4 - If you're offside don't call for the ball, was almost never the right side of his defender
Shipley - 6 - Always gives everything. Brought composure to the left and helped Brown, as with JCH we looked more of a unit with him.

Robins - 1 - Picked the team, formation and subs out of a tombola. I'm not going to be calling for his head this season but I can see some will unless we seem to know what we're doing.

People are again going to obsess over names up front, it's irrelevant while we have no system or gameplan at all. We could sign Chaplin tomorrow and he would probably be stuck in midfield somewhere or play as a target man.

Agree but I think selling sparky had derailed us if he was still here can’t see us not playing 2 up top him and biamou.Saturday would like to see us I back to 4-4-2 but he will have to drop either Bayliss or Andreu I feel to keep a balance.

I thought he was poor. Gave the ball away a lot, his man scored the first as Grimmer didn't track his run and gave him a free header 8 yds out. Caught out of position often and not the pace/fitness/effort, take your pick, to get back. His first start of the season so maybe rusty. He did have the anonymous Sterling in front of him though so not much help.

aybe Robins has gone a bit mad after his first promotion. His house is just gold things and expensive portraits of himself and he thinks Adi is mad for not letting him put 10 strikers on the pitch.

He should certainly have been stronger and done better with the first but then I'm LOB should've come off his line and claimed it. He worries me in goal a lot.

All need to stop panicking just yet. Some big players still missing and perhaps an experienced striker still to come on loan.

What do we do with all the other strikers we've just bought in then?

O'Brien 5 - Some good saves but distribution was poor. Looked shaky on crosses.

Grimmer 5 - Not at it today but still better than Sterling at RB.
Hyam 5 - I like Hyam but he's painfully slow. Willis is the man to start over him.
Davies 6 - Immense in the area. His passing could be a problem this season.
Brown 5 - Looks a sound player and I think he will be our first choice LB.

Bayliss 5 - If it wasn't for his drive to go forward I'd have had him at a 4. Misplaced a number of relatively easy passes. One of his worst games for us.

Ogo 5.5 - Very similar style of player to Kante, just a shame he's not a better passer of the ball.

Sterling 1.5 - What a let down this lad has been so far. Looks so out of his depth. Wins nothing in the air, naff going forward and suspect defensively. If he isn't dropped Saturday it's clear there is something in his contract stating he needs to play.

Hiwula 3 - Another let down. Lacks the pace I thought he bring, weak in the air and certainly not a goal scorer. Certainly not a wide player, but I'm not sure he'd be any good up top!

Bakayoko 3 - There's something there, but I'm not sure it's enough. Adebola-esque build but again, clearly not a finisher.

Biamou 5 - As much as I think Biamou is a good player, it's scary how much better he is than JCH and Bakayoko. Relying on Biamou as our main striker is not what should be expected of him. Won plenty in the air and was certainly the best attacking option.

Ponti 5.5 - Actually thought he looked quite sharp. Touch is good and seems to be a bit quicker.

JCH 3 - Biggest let down of them all. Stay on your feet Jonson.

Shipley 6 - We looked much better with him on the pitch. I'd start him over Hiwula on Saturday.

Robins - Very disappointed with him tonight. Looked clueless in the second half when we needed the goal. Throwing Biamou out on the right was just stupid. Needs to find the man to get the goals quite quickly..

Be big enough to admit a mistake or allow them time to improve but they look miles away. Out of position, poor service, lack of other movement, new side, no cohesion are all factors but they're not making runs or dropping in to find space. Any of them. Simply look devoid of pace or options and on the only odd occasion any of them have got free in any of the games they've not even threatened the goal.

To be fair, Bakayoko got some positive comments, and people have pointed out Hiwula was played out of position. P S. Raining in Salzburg (bloke in airport queue near to me had flown in --sounded American?- to see his son play today for Salzburg v Benfica today(was dying to ask what his son's name was!)

Good to see Bakayoko and Hiwula being written off already, bravo.
Shouldn't write them off, obvious we aren't playing to their strengths. It's the same as signing Chaplin and putting it on his head every time.

Don't agree with the reaction when sterling got taken off but it might be time for robins to re think that.

All 4’s for me with Grimmer a 6, and Pont a 6.

Biggest concern was many of the attacking new signings were incredibly poor.

Ogogo is Doyle mk 2 - does all the grunt work but poor on the ball. An Ogogo / Doyle central partnership would lack basic skill

Felt sorry for Grimmer, Brown and Ogogo yesterday. They were offered no support by people around or in front of them at all. It was no surprise that we looked the better of the two teams once Shipley came on and looked to pass and move.
As for Sterling, I haven't seen a poorer performance since Reece Brown played for us. He looked like a kid who was playing his first match in a team and had no clue of where he needed to be on the pitch.

It's early days yet, while I can't say I'm not a little concerned, I'm confident things will start clicking sooner rather than later, and no poor performances from last night make me thinking we can write off any of them, just was a bad day at the office.
O'Brien 6 - Thought he did okay. Couple of dodgy kicks, a decent save towards the end. Although he was hesitant at coming off his line for the first goal, I think had he come off his line it would have been calamitous anyway
Grimmer 3 - Right backs aren't starting the season particularly well. So sloppy in possession.
Hyam 5 - Was exposed for lack of pace on numerous occasions, did get one crucial block in the first half that would have been a guaranteed goal otherwise
Davies 6 - Won most things in the air, the more assured of the back two.
Brown - 5 Was okay.
Sterling 3 - Just wasn't involved at all. Didn't even look like he wanted to get involved. We need to give him time to get his confidence up. The cheering when his number went up was pathetic.
Bayliss 5 - Some great bits, but gave the ball away way too much. I was quite for the idea of him playing as one of the holding 2, but if last night's anything to go by, I can firmly hold my hands up to say it's a bad idea.
Ogogo 4 - Started the game well, winning tackles, but towards the end his distribution had a couple of guys in the row in front of me laughing.
Hiwula 3 - I would say similar to Sterling, but instead of doing 'okay' at the basics, he didn't quite manage that. As mentioned before, he's not a left-winger so it's not really his fault.
Bakayoko 5 - Thought he did okay in what was a terrible performance. Battled well, showed glimpses.
Biamou 5 - Ran his socks off and showed why he is so divisive. Some great moments, including a pass outwide to Shipley towards the end, and also many poor touches. Definitely one of the better players on the night.
Shipley, Ponticelli, Clarke-Harris - All 6's thought they all changed the game for the better, and certainly made cases to be in the 11 on Saturday. Can't see Ponticelli getting the nod though as I can't see where he will fit into this system.

O'Brien - 6 - Some good stops. My preferred No 1.
Grimmer - 4 - looked a shadow of last season's attacking right back
Brown - 4 - disappointing
Hyam - 5 - Not his finest hour, exposed too many times
Davies - 6 - Thought he was one of the only players to come out of the game with any credit
Sterling - 3 - Pretty rubbish really
Bayliss - 5.5 - Showed flashes of the player he can be, but swimming against the tide really
Ogogo - 4 - Disappointed. Gave the ball away too many times
Hiwula - 3- Playing out of position doesn't help the cause.
Bakayoko - 5 - Thought he was playing fine, surprised he was taken off
Biamou - 5 - Played like Max does, running around, tackling but no end product

Ponticelli - 4 - Can't see what the fuss is about. He's not the answer to our lack of goals
JCH - 5 - Lots of muscle and good intent
Shipley - 5 - Ok

Think Bayliss showed last night why he can't play there in that role.
agreed. He provided the one moment of genuine class, but was a headless chicken much of the time. Needs a boss figure to keep him in line

I think you have to put in perspective in midfield we had sterling and bakayoko, so far more ground to try and fill.
