Don't give a fuck who plays. As long as it's organised and tactically sound, i don't really care....
Same here. First 11 players to put their hand in the air when asked as a group, "Who wants to play?", then show them a ball, explain what it is and then show them the goals and also explain what they are. Win, win situation!

Not sure how we are going to keep a clean sheet, or how/ whos going to put the ball in the ball in back of the net. 1-1 draw.

Burge

I've slapped down fifty quid on a 2-1 win to City! (I don't care if I lose it. It's not real. It's SBT virtual betting!)

It’s obvious that we need a win and fast. All the feal good factor and momentum that we have/had from last season will disappear the longer without s victory. So hear’s hoping for a 2-1 win.

I am in the same boat as the majority of fans on here and more worrying MR; no idea what the best formation or team is for tomorrow.

We signed a lot of player with pace, so it makes sense to use them. In addition, Bayliss and Andreu are our two most creative players, so I understand the desire to play them both, but thus far it hasn’t worked. Bayliss is wasted on the right and removes any option of playing with pace on the wings. Andreu looks as though he has a touch of class about him, but he absolutely needs the right players around him and can only play in one position. Controversial, but would one be dropped if MR only plays with one ACM? If so, it’d be Andreu for me, as good as he is, he can be ponderous on the ball and can’t drive at defenders like Bayliss. Even so, I’m not sure I would drop either as both can be game changers.

There are issues like that all over the pitch, so I get why MR isn’t sure, although it is his job to be.

Anyway, tomorrow I would go all out attack, based on the fact we have a gluttony of attackers and it grts the majority of our better players in the team.

LOB

Sterling (HAS to be more) Willis Davies Mason (better defensively)

Ogogo

Bakayoko Andreu Bayliss Hiwula

Biamou

Tactics:
Biamou to hold the ball up and allow the wingers/Bayliss to get past him.
Bayliss and Andreu to control the midfield with their class and creativity.
Back four to remain solid and support Ogogo in defending, allowing the front five to focus on attacking.
One of Bayliss/Andreu to sit a little deeper (not ahead of the ball) when the other pushes on.

While it might leave us a little exposed, if the ball is constantly in their half, and our pace worries them, they can’t/won’t commit too much forward.

I’m aware its a bit of a different formation, but the attacking strategy worked in this league with TM, so let’s try again.

did you watch the Oxford match?

That formation would be suicide.

Pretty much my side atm, although am easy about which LB. I might lean towards Brown for experience, but Torch said he was tosh at Oxford, so maybe Mason. Hiwula has to come good if given a run at striker, he has the pedigree, like McNulty. I know Robins was probably playing down expectations when saying he isn't a direct replacement for him, but he SHOULD be, rather than playing him on the wing!

Would love to fit Andreu into one of the CM berths instead of Doyle but we do miss Doyle's leadership and Robins won't drop him...remains to see if he will drop Andreu either though. Complex times ahead.

Hmm a Tricky one - I think maybe tempted to go with a diamond 4-4-2 it will never happen but ideally

Burge GK
Grimmer RB
Brown LB
Willis CB
Davies CB
Ogogo DCM
Andreau ACM
Bayliss RM
Shipley LM
Bakayoko ST
Hiwulu ST

Subs: O'Brien, Sterling, Mason, Doyle, Kelly, Biamou, Ponticelli

Would love to see that too, with Biamou instead of Bakayoko as we need an aerial aspect, but as you say....never gonna happen!

Absolutely no fucking chance of us ever fielding such a rediculous side and formation.
We’d be hammered out of sight after 20 minutes.

Bayliss - Ogogo - Andreu - Thomas

Yes, gets my vote.

Need to see Hiwula paired closely with Biamou. I think there's potential with those two. Thought Andreu's work rate against Scunthorpe was good enough to suggest he can play in a midfield two.

I just don't think Andreu works as a centre midfielder. He's a number 10 or on the bench for me

I thought he covered a lot of ground v Scunthorpe and competed well across the midfield. I didn't think he had that in his game, but he did well for me.

Personally I'd go for a diamond in attack, reverting to a flat 4 in defence. Something like:

-------------------LOB--------------------
-Sterling--Willis--Davies--Brown
------------------Ogogo------------------
-----Bayliss-----------------Shipley---
------------------Andreu-----------------
---------Biamou---------Hiwula------

Just stick a half decent left winger against us and they will have a field day :(

So what do you propose as the solution for that? I admit it is rather weak defensively but we don't have a plethora of options on the right hand side.

Agreed. Should be more but it won't.
A few losses and Coventry fans drop off.

No chance of only 8000. It will be down on opening day, as it was for the second home fixture last season (after back to back league wins), so the 'losses' comment isn't really valid. An extended bad run and of course crowds will decline, but it won't impact tomorrow which will be 10K+.

Need a win and think we will get it. A defeat and concerns rightly so will kick in. Ultimately though despite the past we have to accept that even in the third division we are a newly promoted team and will take time to settle

I'll be shocked if there is more than 10,000 Coventry fans there tomorrow.

I couldn't believe it when the attendance for the Scunthorpe game was announced as being 12,964. Although the car parks before the game seemed a lot busier than usual, the numbers inside the Ricoh looked more like 11,000 to me. So, what do I know? If 12,964 is the new 11,000, then I'll say a surprising 13,500 for Plymouth (1,500 away) and a 4-1 home win. Ever the optimist.

The feal (sic) good factor/momentum is long gone. We've moved up a league and brought in a load of new players. If MR gets us in contention for promotion he deserves a medal. I hope he gets one. He surely has to identify his key players and build his team around them.

Yeah, it was nowhere near 13,000.
Well I wasn't at the game, on holiday, but as I'm a season ticket holder I would have been added to the attendance even though I wasn't at the game and no doubt there would have been other season ticket holder's on holiday who were not at game.

Witch might explain the attendance for the game.

Will I'm hoping we at least get a draw! But if they score who on our side is likely to score in response? Bit like last year til McNulty came right and even then most of his early goals were penalty's

More people likely back off holiday than for Scunny should boost the crowd.

Penalty’s what?
Out of 28 goals last year 6 were from the penalty spot

I may be wrong but up to Christmas last year in L2 he had only scored 7 goals and 2 were against Wycombe on 22/12 - Plenty of time for current players to improve but would be nice to have a few goal scorers now!
