Last season we beat a poor Notts C team comfortably, Jones hat trick, won away at Grimsby (with fortuitous goal, to start) then lost 3 on the spin, 2 being at home and finally held on for 00 away at eventually relegated chesterfield. This season mirrors it slightly, A couple of better finishes and we would have won or at least drawn against scunny.odd goal would have beat wimbledon, then collapse again.It is early days, yes it looks alarming and the lack of form from key players doesn't help. (Doyle, Bayliss, shipley all been poor) I do not know the story behind the lack of Grimmer, Kelly and Burge - but trust there is one. Give it time, i am not panicking as yet.It is a higher league and better teams, i am sure it will come good.

No worries. If he wernt a cov lad people wouldn't be as patient with him. Fact is he's no where near good enough to play at this level. Was forced to play him last year due to unlucky Injuries to Jones and Andreu but notice how fast he was dropped when we got new players in....

But so has Grimmer and i would have him back in, in a heart beat. The shock to me, is the team was just that last year a team. We seem all over the place and uncoordinated this year. As i say early days, and i do think we will come good. Still like Shipley though

My friend has said about a number of our young academy and loanee players that they have lots of skills and ability but don't know how to play football.
Some players have an innate knowledge of where and when to run, when to pass etc. but surely most players with ability can be coached in these basics if they haven't got them.

It was just bizarre. I don't think I've ever seen a player who's so positionally unaware. In the last two games I've seen him play (Plymouth, Blackpool) I counted 8 offsides, and they're the ones I counted; it's probably far more considering he played in the Wimbledon and Oxford fixtures which I missed. For a professional footballer that is an abysmal statistic. I first noticed it in the Plymouth game but i didn't think it was it was something of a concern - I couldn't have been more wrong.

You're right it's usually associated with inexperience. Players who ball watch rather than observe their surrounds are usually the most guilty of it and Baka's performance ticked this box. He looked as if we'd pulled him straight out of U23 football and dropped him into mens football overnight.

Despite his poor debut I think he'll come good but it's clear that he can't play on his own and needs assistance up top as he's the furtherest thing from a CF we currently have.
