Can’t see him going further North tbh especially with ex Pompey players with us....depends how much more they offer than us.

I feel like it's but if media drama being cooked up. But the shirt has been reserved for him here and yes he knows plenty of our players.

However, a fee of £500k is being mentioned today. Not sure it will be that high as he's out of contract next summer.

Will this thread stop when he signs wherever he does or will it continue as a praise/hate speech shrine to him hurtling towards the big 100?

Six seasons and a movie!
Did wonder why it had to grind to a crushing halt when he moved (whoever it was to!)

He knows Robins wants him as the main man and what he wants is first team football. Tell Barnsley to go eat a pie and sign with us.

Just looking at his goalscoring record.

25 career goals in 4,366 minutes. Works out as a goal every 174 minutes although the majority have come while in League 2

At least we should now see if Bakayoko was brought in to play with Chaplin. The two of them could cause problems for anyone. One tall for the knock downs and the other a predator in the area. And both young enough to learn. Could be a fun season.

That was the point of my post; it explained two ways in which I believe he can play as the lone striker.

Adam Armstrong did it in the same system in this league. Sergio Aguero is one of the best strikers in the world, has often played as a a lone striker and is only two inches taller than Chaplin.

It’s all about the type of football we play, and the three (and to some extent five) behind him.
Armstrong was / is a bit of a one trick pony, and was found out by defenders. This is Div 1 we are talking about. Having an attack with no tall striker when you have midfielders who play hoofball - which they will, it is div 1. That was Biamou's main talent- dealing with long kicks and laying off in someway to McNulty

Think it will cover the compo as well.

Bakayoko is not a "knock down merchant" not physical enough

So last night I took it upon myself to look through and find out how many minutes Conor had played in his 104 games at Pompey .

When broken down he has scored 22 goals in 40.22 matches .
Looks a decent addition if we get him

Only problem is Baka can’t head a ball to save his life, but I agree it could potentially work them 2.

Hopefully Doyle and Davies are on the way to pick him up.

don’t think I’d want them too knocking on my door early morning forcing me to come with them!

i was just going to say that! he could not in a header to save his life and is quite flimsy when someone pressurises him in a tackle

It would be such a CCFC thing to do if this went tits up after the longest pursuit of a player in the clubs (or any club in the universes) history.

Andy Turner tweeted last night ‘not a chance’ in response to someone asking if he could still go to Barnsley. For that very reason, I’d say it’s a distinct possibility!

I think he's most likely already signed and training with us but just not announced yet as they do the photo shoot etc. after training.

Yeah, the last few signings have trained before announced and then they have the "first day training" article.

In out favour, we are closer than Barnsley and have players he knows. Also he’s almost guaranteed first team here.

Out of our favour, they can probably offer more wages which might be enough.....
50/50 this one...
