Passers-by slammed for filming fallen Coventry cop

Police officer got knocked off his bike and no-one helped and most just filmed the incident on their phones.

Seen a few of these sorts of things lately.

What are everyone's views in the police in general? I know some people hate them and that's all of them and some like my parents, who feel they can do no wrong.

I have had some positive interactions with them and some negative interactions. At the end of the day though they are just people and like people in general, some are good, some are bad.

Can never get my head round this 'I hate the police' stance.

If I saw a police officer in need my first thought would be to help him or her, unless they had behaved appallingly or not followed correct procedures etc.

If I saw a police officer get knocked off a bike I would be looking to help them, not film the incident on my mobile.

I see there was another incident the other day where the police went to arrest someone in a McDonald's and the accused fought back and some of the customers joined in, in attacking the police.

I would go to his/her aid no problem. But when I used to get into trouble years ago I wouldn't have bothered.
I got beat up badly in Little Park Street in the 80's by two coppers, they gave me a hiding in a cell there. In the police station ! I gave them some lip so they mullered me. I went to court 2 days later with 2 black eyes and a Donald duck lip, and the magistrate asked me how I got beat up ? When I told him by two police officers he said nothing, just mumbled something and fined me for being drunk and disordley. So I hated the police for years, but strangely I respect them now. I was a nasty piece of work at times back then , so probably deserved a pasting !

Best mate is old bill...... nothing but respect. Even after getting nicked up the City against villa I still 100% support all the work they do

little time for them when I was younger but ambivalent to them now. Some are sound, some are arseholes. In my youth have been beaten up by them for fuck all and witnessed the same happening to others, (have also been beaten up by them for acting the arse so no complaints over that).
But I do respect they have a difficult job and red tape and cuts are making their life increasingly difficult.
Would I have helped this copper out? Yeah, definitely, he/she is a fellow human being after all.

I didn't know the police still rode bikes.
But I Googled it and found tons of pictures.
Here some cops on bikes in Fort Worth, Texas.

Didn't bother watching the Telegraph video. Like everything else they submit to their online pages, it's full of adverts and crap that I don't wish to see. I think it was about 1½ minutes loading and then the video started. It was a bloody advert for some crap I'm not interested in.
Can't be arsed with online newspapers anymore!

It’s a shame that there seems to be no respect for the police now! And the police can often do very little about it to put this right. Their hands are often tied!

The police will always be that service who run at trouble while the rest of us run away from it.

Most people's interactions with the police are negative and unpleasant.
If someone rings the doorbell and you see it is the police, who is expecting something positive to happen?

I had a scrap with a bloke years ago. I was in a pub last night and he wanted to fight again. I'm 64 and he's the same, when are you too old to fight ?

2 things, firstly, I've not had a row for years, but I can see that coming to an end soon if the fucking stewards carry on the way they're going at the Ricoh.
Secondly, hope you punched his lights out mate!!

This bloke has had a beef with me for a long time. We had a scrap years ago, but he will not let it go. Last night he wanted to fight, I said okay let's go outside. He come with his mates, I'm on on my own. We've had 2 fights but he will not fight on his own. I'm 64 he is 60.

Madness, one bad fall or punch on a 65 year old and you are being sent down for a while.

Easier to just walk away laughing. Sense beats random pride :)

Don't get me wrong, there will be hard as nails old people. Have to weigh up how much it's worth it when you see people locked up for a scrap where they fall and bump their head and die

I've been in a couple of positions where I look back now I am a parent and think what a dickhead for allowing it to happen trying to be clever.

Outside the Crown in Bell Green. Me a window cleaner against a Scraffolder. I threw punches, he nutted me, I nutted him back, I booted him in the nuts. We scrapped on the floor. We got up and punched each other. He threw a chair at me, I did the same at him. Who won ?
Me !

I smacked him in the Acorn in the 80's,and he never forgets it. I was in my 20's and he was the same. We had a row some years ago, he will not do anything away from the pub, He can't do anything about it but he will not let it go. One day he will stab me, he has said so.

that's nuts mate. I was involved in quite a bad fight in the 90s, (91 to be exact, not long after my eldest daughter was born), One lad ended up in hospital, we were in the pub having a laugh a couple of weeks ago. Letting bygones be bygones and both a lot older and wiser.
This fella is deranged, and while you should always take the threat of someone stabbing you seriously I think if he was going to do it he'd have done it by now rather than just talking about it.
Though as I say, with that sort of threat I wouldn't be complacent.

Why do some people will not forget something years ago ? Let's forget about it ?
Self pride. Arrange to meet him on his own somewhere. Local park ? Explain its all in the past etc. Won't be easy for him as he got beat but if you can say....Look i really don't want to fight with you then that might make him feel better and except it.
