its crazy to be too critical of any of the new players so far. It so early in the season

I quite liked Leon Best, although I liked Lukas Jutkiewicz too, I think I just like almost anyone who plays for us (apart from Julian Darby and Kevin Kyle of course)

I liked Jutkiewicz too. Always got so frustrated but for him rather than at him; the amount of times his shots hit the woodwork was unreal!

Strangely I think his best form came under Zola at Birmingham, who was probably one of the worst managers he could have played for given his record at the Blues!

As for Bakayoko, Atleast last night he looked like a footballer; just a footballer we don’t know where to play!

Coventry fans need a boo-boy always have going back years, Bakayoko could score hat-tricks a number of games running but the first time he doesn’t or God forbid fails to score the boo-boys will be back in force.

McNulty was targeted up until the new year, which sums up our fan base.

I think he's good actually. Wins headers and flicks. Had our best chance last night. This is all down to a few on Twitter moaning that he wasn't Chaplin.

How Bakayoko can call himself a forward is beyond me, he can neither score, head trap, pass, dribble, shoot, have i missed something, what i'm saying is,the guy is shit. i actually thought just what position could we make him into and maybe salvage this disgraced carthorse of a signing, and you know,i couldn't. Walsall definitely saw us coming,or should i say,Robins.
I can’t remember seeing him for Walsall when they have played us but that is not unusual as I watch games through metaphorical Sky Blue glasses. For us I have seen him play 3 full games (counting Blackpool as a full game, it wasn’t quite), and a couple of bit part appearances. He was poor at Blackpool but was really given no chance because of the way the ball was played to him. I thought he was okay against Plymouth, good when he came on against Gillingham and good in the first half last night. He did seem a strange signing but he is here now. On what we have seen so far I just do not see how anyone can be so completely certain that he is a useless player. The completely dogmatic statements about him like the one above reminds me of the comments about McNulty last season and the ones about Robins from some posters this. He May turn out to be a poor signing but some people seem to have it in for him without giving him any sort of chance. It makes you wonder how they call themselves “fans” or “supporters” as for some people at the club, they are the opposite.

People need to slow down a little here it’s Very early days yet Robins seems to do well coaching strikers young & raw I’m optimistic about Baka hope he does well for us.

If this was true (which it’s not by the way) your issue shouldn’t be with Bakayoko at all it should be with Robins. I’m shite at football, but if a club was offering me a decent living wage to play it and I was still shite, it ain’t my fault, it’s the club for signing me. Can’t comprehend why anyone would give that much stick to one of ‘their’ players, unless the fan is a complete c**t

Had we signed Chaplin first as planned none of this pathetic slagging of Bakayoko would have happened.
Certainly would have been a fraction of the abuse. All the focus was on getting Chaplin, so when we got Bakayoko first instead, some saw him as a poor Chaplin substitute.

They are of course in reality completely different types of players.

Although you're right in your thinking, I must stress there's only so long we can bang on this drum before we have to admit to the fact that some simply might not be good enough.

Indeed, but let's at least give them a chance to show they're not good enough.

Undoubtedly there will be some signings that don't come off and won't work out, but it's far too early to judge just yet.

It is far too early to judge because many of the players brought in are young and are still developing. For instance, Bakayako in my view is a player for the future - MR himself has stated in the press that he wants to transform Baka into a different mould of player. So, as a result I'm not expecting big things from him, not this season anyway.

Like you said though there will undoubtably be signings that don't come off and that's just part and parcel of football. Fans will always have split opinions on who or who won't come off in the early stages of the season as they can only go off a players performance in games. The management staff see these players on a daily basis so whilst team selection may baffle us at times, there's always reasoning behind the team selection.

Baka has great physical attributes, good feet and can dribble. Anyone else think he could be a beast with some coaching?

Main issues seem to be he is being played in a role that doesn’t suit him (yet?) and that he’s not a clinical finisher.

He hasn't really had many chances through on goal has he? I can think of the one against Wimbledon which was cleared off the line but it isn't as if he is missing sitters every week.

It's too hard to judge him when we keep hoofing it, need to get it on the floor to feet and have players around him to see how he does. If we had Chaplin playing off him with it on the floor then I think he would have a better impact.

How did you guess, seriously though,he wouldn't get into the squad over in treacletown if i was in charge, but still there is loads of time to prove me wrong,my worry is though, that Robins as he bought him will persist with him until something gives, either Robins is sacked,or Bakayoko is shipped out, because scoring isn't on the cards for him is it.

Believe me, i hope i am wrong!
How is Robins persisting with him? He's barely getting a sniff now we've signed Chaplin, featuring for a total of 14 minutes in the last 3 league games.

Social media nonsense. People heard we were paying a big fee for him and Walsall fans said he was rubbish put that on top of him being shit at Blackpool (where the whole team was shit and not many were in attendance) you somehow end up with outright abuse at one of our own players. Even at Oxford in the cup people around me were saying how he's one of the worst they've ever seen. He's still young, let Robins work with him ffs!

Oxford in the cup he had a decent first half. He was closing everything down and pressing from the front, couple of decent tackles as well.

He's the target because people thought we weren't going to get Chaplin and it was just him. Then bellends on social media get all worked up and he becomes the target, was somebody calling him a c*nt when he signed based on not much at all.

It's pretty embarrassing really. Just watch how much Chaplin will get away with compared to Bakayoko when it comes to winning headers, offsides etc.

You are right on two counts.
Firstly, i do blame Robins for Bakayoko as i believe we would not of signed him in the first place had we got Chaplin in before him,and also i think he was a panic buy and Robins didnt do his homework on him.
As he is here now i will back him like i do with all those who wear Skyblue but his job is to score goal, after all he is a forward, but goals for him are hard to come by,although he is still settling in.
2nd point..
Your right.!.i am a complete c**t.

It's amazing how Robins and the club didnt do their homework but all of the fans did, which just involved hearing Walsall fans slate him.

Thing is - Walsall fans were slagging him off left & right before he landed on our doormat.
Walsall - WALSALL that football super power?
Jesus what do they know - they wouldn't recognise Cristiano Ronaldo if he walked through reception wearing a "I am Cristiano Ronaldo" tee-shirt!
Ignore them and give the lad time to show us what he can do!
He will come good I'm sure.
