Robins said cattermole was our whole budget

They can't still be paying him silly wages surely?

Should of won This game today Chaplin missed 2 sitters brought in to finish them chances and missed both disappointing today.

JCH best performance in a City shirt today won everything fingers crossed he can keep it up.

Sterling played well at left back I thought, was worried when he moved over there but he won a fair few headers and tackles.
Agreed. Today’s game should have done his confidence a world of good.

Very impressed with jch today if he played like that every week he would be a major asset

JCH was much improved compared to last Saturday. Still can't believe Chaplin missed those 2 chances

If he was on 3-4 yr contract in last Prem season then after two relegations in successive seasons he'd be on that much. If he doesn't have a relegation reduction clause he'd still be on that contract and why would he leave - no-one else will give him that much and if Sunderland have to pay him up they may as well spread the cost out and utilise him as a player.

Agree it's madness a player of his restricted quality (albeit tenacious attitude) to be on that kind of money. Funny how players/agents always argue they should get pay rises for promotions but not reductions for relegations? Like they're the reason the team is doing well but not when the teams doing badly (which we all know is down to poor management)

I'm happy with that, every good point against a decent team. We can take points from the Barnsleys and Sunderlands, but lose to Bristol Rovers? We have to be more consistent.

Overall I think a draw was a fair result. Game of two keepers, although Chaplin should have give the keeper no chance with his second, let alone the defender who got back to clear off the line!

JCH has his best game by far, but I’m not sure if him and Chaplin work. Unlike last year’s dilemma when JCH came in - we didn’t know who to play alongside McNulty, now we don’t know who to play together for different reasons!

Doyle’s only use today was to play Sunderland at their own tactics - chew the refs ear off at every opportunity, otherwise he was a passenger, as I suspected he would be in a high tempo, fast paced game.

Few players were blowing come the end - but clearly our fitness levels are better than Sunderland’s who had too many players dropping like flies, although I think in the main that was a tactic!

Both teams could have won it so a fair result, stand out performances from Clarke Harris, Sterling ( who both had their best games for us ) and Burge with a couple of good saves again. Enjoyed it today with a good atmosphere, we need to start playing like we're a goal down all the time, disappointed that we sat off as soon as we equalised as we had them on the ropes. On to Tuesday where i hope we can pick up the win

Great game. What you want to go and see at a football match. Our fans were great, as were their supporters - although I think they were a bit jaded by the journey and kick off time - except the clown who kept wobbling his belly at Block 14 ! Burge was brilliant, Pleased for Sterling, who made that goal. JCH played really well. Thought you could see that JJ will suit Chaplin's darting runs. I know it didn't happen for Conor today, but it will come. All in all really enjoyed the game and the buzz at the stadium.

Sterling looked better when he switched as he has the more defensive minded shiperly in front of him, good day for JCH, I was really surprised at how quiet they were until they scored.

Watched the match In Tibb Street tavern with another Cov fan and a Mackem..... spent most of our time laughing at the Man United fans. Terrible first half, Looked much better after their goal.

Yeah, no reason we can't still have a good season once it clicks into place. I think the players are overthinking the finishing and should just whack it in.

Overall a fair result but when you miss a golden chance near the end you feel a bit robbed. Thought I noticed two or three little bits of inter play between Bayliss, Jones and Chaplin to indicate good things ahead possibly.
Got to say this Jordan Shipley. Gets criticised constantly on here but his presence in our midfield is essential, does the dirty work you need to allow others to play, ended up today today playing in front of a makeshift leftback and against players in midfield on thousands a week more than him. Going to be a top player this kid.

Chaplin is worryingly toothless.
I'm not sure how the loan system with a view to buy works, but I assume he isn't our player until January. On the positive side, if he attracts too much attention with loads of goals, could Portsmouth decide to keep him, or put the price up? I'm sure in my mind that Chaplin has at least 20 goals in him in L1 over a full season

He looks good until he's in front of goal and he goes to shit. He might need a few to get his confidence up but maybe he's just not a great finisher. We shall see.

I thought the same - but maybe the switch to an unfamiliar side made him concentrate more. An inverted full back maybe be his position? Dennis Irwin like.

His all round play is very impressive. Strong on the ball, good positioning and produces a fair few excellent passes. I think he'll start to knock the goals in, but perhaps not at the prolific rate of McNulty. If him and JCH could get 25-30 between them, that would do me
