Well there are obviously different degrees of deafness, from partial hearing to totally deaf.

I kind of like the sentiment, but in practice it would all just be a little daft and like I say, if you wanted a one minute's applause for someone who has just passed away, seeing a crowd of jazz hands would be quite laughable.

It’s BSL clapping to be fair so I guess you’d have to ask them, but I’d imagine deaf people aren’t so great at picking up auditory cues?

I asked my son about this. He was born totally deaf and uses BSL to communicate (which I also use). Neither of us have heard about the so-called jazz thing? Seems to me it's just another internet myth.
