Don't think many of them come out with any credit.

Doyle, Shipley and Andreu the worst of the bunch.

Back to the negative play for a draw shite as well.

Burge - 6: Couldn't do a huge amount with their tidy finish.
Sterling - 6: Been critical of him but he was pretty good tonight.
Willis - 6: Maybe generous, looked reasonable.
Hyam - 4: Thought he was pretty crap, came out defence a few times and gave it away every time.
Davies - 5: Won a lot in the air but got sloppy second half. Almost got fucked in the arse by their striker when he was dicking around outside our area.
Shipley - 2: Needs dropping, for his own good.
Doyle - 4: Did some good things but set pieces and passing was shambolic for a professional.
Bayliss - 4: Mostly shit, and an absolute pussy too. Need more from him.
Thomas - 4: Not really in the game it seemed.
Andreu - 3: Not gonna work in this set up like that, could be good if he played behind two strikers.
JCH - 6: Should have scored and it's disappointing, but generally he was one of the better players.

Subs:

Thompson - 3: Looked absolutely garbage. A boy out there tonight.
Jones - 3: Also looked garbage. Maybe the injury...
Hiwula -4: Needs a full game really.

Robins - 3: Shit set up, shit team selection (mostly), shit tactics. The only thing he got right was the centre back pairing and the last two subs. By that point it was far too late though.

We look so flimsy attackingwise and their defenders barely had a workout today. We play so deep and when we do finally get up their our final product and decision making is awful. The midfield is a massive concern too. They're all playing like zombies and seem to be having a competition as to who can give the ball away the most.

How the hell you've given Hiwula the highest rating of the subs I'll never know. Came on as a striker and was never in the box for crosses and generally awful positionally.

They were better than us in all areas including how the manager set them up, how they controlled the tempo, their fans and their effort.

Sterling was good, Burge did nothing wrong Willis and Davies ok the rest pretty woeful.

The other two subs were absolutely shocking. What game were you watching?

I gave Hiwula a 4, hardly ground breaking. Can hardly blame him coming to get the ball either, the midfield had gone to buy an ice cream.

Burge - 7 thought he did what we had to well

Sterling - 6 looks much more confident and positive in his actions fouled on numerous occasions

Hyam - 5 ok, but as mentioned lost the ball when he stepped out with it far too often

Davies - 7 looked solid. Happy to have him back in the side

Willis - 6 ok, nothing spectacular

Shipley - 5 was better in his execution tonight, some decent one touch stuff. Again though lack of pace and athleticism meant he lost the ball too often in attacking positions. Should have scored early on from JCH low cross but the ball went straight through his legs

Doyle 5 - dropped too deep especially in the second half. Age is starting too be a factor

Bayliss 6 - needs more freedom. Would have been a better choice to play the number 10 role tonight than Andreu

Thomas 5 - worked hard no end product

Andreu - 3 shite decision making, looked slow and his touch was poor

JCH - 5 not as effective as usual. Missed a sitter
Subs
Thompson - 6 thought he did well against Curtis out of position. Decent on the ball

Jones - 5 should have played Bayliss in at one point. Indicative of the fact he was trying to do too much himself

Hiwula - 3 where the fuck are you playing mate?

Burge 6 didn't think he did much wrong.
Willis Davies Hyam 6 all did ok and weren't really troubled.
Sterling 6.5 carried on from Saturday looks a far better left back than right back.
Thomas 6.5 was fairly good until Jones and him swapped wings then he was out of it.
Bayliss 5 How he got MOM us beyond me.
Doyle 4. Awful distribution at fault for the goal starting to become a liability.
Shipley 3 just wasn't in it.
Andreu 3 for a guy so skilful his first touch tonight was awful. Passed when it was easier to shoot.
JCH ran his socks off. Had no relationship with Andreu or Hiwula.
Thompson 5.5 did ok but looked like a boy in a man's world.
Jones 6 brought some tempo to the game in his first 10 minutes then swapped wings and dropped out of the game.
Hiwula 3 had he met JCH before tonight? Appeared to have no understanding whatsoever with his playing partner.

Burge - 6.5 couldn’t do anything with the goal. Made a few simple enough saves but possibly for the first time I feel confidence in him

Sterling - 6.5 thought he was possibly our best player. Not saying a lot, but was solid enough and seems to be growing in confidence going forward

Davies - 6 won most things in the air

Willis - 6 his pace bailed us out once. There wasn’t a whole lot of defending to do.

Hyam - 5.5 been my player of the season so far but wasn’t at his best today. Sounds like he’s concussed so could be a big miss Saturday

Shipley - 3 absolutely shocking

Doyle - 3 equally shocking. There can’t be many professional footballers who’ve put that many shit set pieces in during one 90 minutes

Bayliss - 5 had a few touches here and there of class but didn’t get involved enough. We lost the midfield battle.

Thomas - 6 he’s terribly frustrating. Looks such a dangerous player until that final ball/shot but that’s so important and he’s clearly lacking.

Andreu - 4 don’t want to blame him too much as that system wasn’t suited to him at all but he was completely ineffective

JCH - 5 not anywhere near as effective as Saturday and missed our only chance.

Thompson - 5 didn’t think he was as bad as has been made out but also didn’t stand out

Jones - 4 started brightly and faded. Not his fault, and was always going to happen

Hiwula - 4 want to see more of him but nothing really happened for him tonight

Bayliss 6 couldn’t get in the game 2nd half we literally spent the last hour of the match on the other side of the pitch to him.
Shipley 4 needs dropping now for his own good

Clark Harris 5 wasted best chance

Jones 4
Hiwula 3 get up front man

Willis 6 - fine
Davies 6.5 - solid
Hyam 6 - came out of defence too often but not that bad
Sterling 7 - looked pretty good and composed on the ball, finally

Thomas 6.5 - lively and skilful though obviously the final ball is still lacking
Bayliss 6 - loses possession too often by letting the ball get too far away from him
Doyle 6 - good free-kick at the end, saw him crunching into a few tackles, looked committed
Shipley 6 - looked all right to me

Andreu 5 - neat at times but had no effect on the game
Clarke-Harris 4.5 - will just never be good enough by doing the same act all the time

Thompson 5 - dwelling on the ball too much
Jones 6 - sparked us into some sort of life but repeatedly selfish and then faded

Greatest no shit Sherlock statement I have seen in an age.

You think the fact he has been out for nearly a year might have had an impact? ;)

Agree with most of that, apart from Shipley who I'd have marked down to a 4 because he was pulling out of challenges, especially second half.

Burge 7 did nothing wrong
Willis 7 I think he is my favourite player
Davies 6 Good game, didn't do much wrong at all
Hyam 6 We missed him
Sterling 6 Started really well, but appears to be a one trick pony.
Doyle 4 I was concerned, beginning of the end for him I fear. Maybe two games in a week is taking it's toll
Bayliss 5 Still young, still learning, still love him
Shipley 4 Shocking
Andreu 4 Shocking
Thomas 6.5 excites me until the last ball. He is improving with each game
JCH 5 too isolated up front

Subs
Thompson 6I thought he did OK
Jones 6 at least he gave us a lift
Hiwula 4 didn't have much of a chance

Men against boys, established pro's with excellent game management. I good game to learn from. I still think we will do OK. I was optimistic that we would be thereabouts this season, but if we aint, we will be better prepared next season. What's the hurry?

Tbf I marked him off because I thought he was improved slightly and I felt sorry for him in the first half when he lost the ball in front of the city fans due to a poor touch and lack of pace. He was clearly pissed off with himself. He's no winger. Not at this level.

Agree with general consensus here.

Only players to come out with decent marks are Sterling...Burge... Willis...and JCH.

How they are top just shows we arnt too far away. Badly missed Chaplin.

Our worse player last night was Doyle , he's too slow both physically and his decision making and passing has gone too . Wonder if Bayliss and Shipley are being affected by the ammount of covering they have to do for him

Burge 7 - didn't do much wrong, kicking was much improved from previous performances.

Willis 7 - had a very good first half and generally had their left winger under wraps. Moved to CB and was steady.
Davies 6 - reasonable, but didn't fill me with the confidence he usually does.
Hyam 6 - looked to get things started from the back but some uncharacteristic slack passing.
Sterling 7 - streets better than the last time I saw him. Looks like he's more comfortable now.

Thomas 6 - classic performance, looking dangerous when picking up the ball until shooting into the nearest player or passing to no one.
Bayliss 6 - a lot deeper than previously, some good breaks forward but lacked the movement in front of him to make a difference.
Doyle 5 - dropped way too deep, seems to think he's Pirlo with his insistence that every move goes through him. Got caught on the ball for the goal.
Shipley 5 - not a great first half but got hooked just as he was getting involved in a positive sense.

Andreu 4 - the guy has class on the ball but last night was totally the wrong game for him. Poor decision making at times and again a lack of movement around him didn't help. Also occupied the space that Bayliss would usually break into.
JCH 5 - not terrible but again it comes down to movement around him. Missed a good chance.

Thompson 5 - defensively ok, looks a very confident lad. Unfortunately it was his undoing on a couple of occasions when getting himself into trouble.
Jones 5 - came on and looked to have changed the game. Lasted 5 minutes and then seemed to dramatically tire. Not ready in the slightest.
Hiwula 4 - you can tell he hasn't had a game in so long, didn't know where to be and was about 40 yards away from his strike partner.

Overall another very incoherent attacking performance. Not enough movement when on the ball, painfully rehearsed passing moves. Feel like we need to move towards a more chaotic approach in attack.

I like the idea of playing Bayliss as a 10 if we have somebody in midfield that could get the ball to him

Beaten by better team would of like to see bayliss further forward instead of andreu hopefully jones can start saturday ahead of shipley who is really struggling at this level.

And i wish our fans would calm down when we keep the ball, robins is trying to make us a posession based team but every time we move the ball across the back 4 our fans want us to leather it up the pitch

That's because when we pass it across the back it usually ends up with us getting pressured more and hoofing it anyway.

When i said we i was generalising and not including myself because I dont want to see the defence touch the ball meaning constant attack from us

That's because when we pass it across the back it usually ends up with us getting pressured more and hoofing it anyway.

Sometimes it does yeah i agree, but bayliss is one of the best moving the ball forward in the league, if us moving the ball across the back 4 to drag opposition midfield away from bayliss to get him on the ball im all for it, that goal yesterday come from shipley giving it away AGAIN nothing to do with our defenders footballing ability

Burge - 7 - no chance with goal, didnt do a lot wrong!
Sterling - 7 - looks to be settling in, maybe he's a left back!
Davies - 6 - pretty solid, needs some more match sharpness
Hyam - 5 - difficult one, came forward a lot but gave the ball away a lot, midfield weren't creating much so i imagine he tried to do it himself, strong enough at back
Willis - 6 - Strong enough, pace helps but think he's a good enough RB at this level
Shipley - 3 - not his finest hour, needs a rest
Doyle - 3 - equally as bad, get him off set pieces, could probably do with a rest as well
Bayliss - 5 - looked a bit disinterested, does get forward but didnt actually create much
Thomas - 6 - Looks like he has so much potential but again no end product. Did cause them some problems
Andreu - 4 - may as well have not been on the pitch really
JCH - 6 - again a dificult one, he's clearly a "target man" but there's never anyone near him to knock it down to or hold it up for

Subs
Thompson - 6 - thought he looked solid enough and was quite happy on the ball, no idea how some are saying he was terrible
Jones - 5 - first 5 mins were good, but he soon ended up not creating anything and running into trouble
Hiwula - 4 - again looked disinterested

I think the biggest problem is the forwards are too far away from each other, and the midfield sit too deep. There's no movement when going forward and nobody looks like they want the ball, its no surprise we don't create chances when there's nobody making runs behind and there's nobody in the box.

Defensively i think we look ok and are strong enough for this league

Burge 6 Wasn’t tested a lot so can’t really get a higher mark.
Willis 6 Solid enough.
Davies 6 Again nothing spectacular but ok.
Hyam 6 At least tried to get us moving forward before he went off.
Sterling 7 Thought he was one of our better players and carried on from Saturday with another decent performance.
Doyle 4 One game too many in a short space of time possibly?
Bayliss 5 Couple of nice flurries/bits of skill but not much else.
Thomas 6 Looked dangerous on a few occasions but no end product and then faded badly.
Shipley 4 Everything he tried just didn’t come off and it was probably a relief to him aswell when his number was up just after 50 minutes or so.
Andreu 4 Just didn’t impose himself on the game at all and again it was his chance to impress.
JCH 6 Not as good as Saturday but wasn’t help by the lack of support around him. Still thought he put himself about but terrible miss when the chance was presented.

Subs Jones 5 Buzzed about and we were constantly trying to find him but didn’t really create much.
Thompson 5 Didn’t see much from him apart from playing himself into trouble a couple of times. Not really troubled as Pompey were happy to sit back when in the lead.
Hiwula 4 Nothing of any note.

Once Pompey took the lead they were quite happy for us to mess about with it in our half for 45 minutes which is exactly what happened apart from a bit of a scramble in the last minute. Bit of a case of after the Lord Mayors show after Saturday’s showing.
