A customer of mine knows I'm a Cov fan and a collector of football memorabilia, and last week asked me would I want her late brothers programme collection ? Of course I replied yes. She came back with about 150 ! From early sixties up to the 90's, and in there are also a few Cup Final ones, and about 20 other clubs. Well pleased would be an understatement, she said her brother who was only in his fifties would want me to have them. I got him a ticket to Jimmy Hills service at the Cathedral, and she remembered that. Bill Glaziers testimonial programme is one of them. Happy days !

I got very nostalgic once we'd left HR (for a time before I was even born let alone attending games) and decided to collect old City programmes further back than what I'd already collected. (1975 being my first game) The only modern ones I collect will be from an away ground I've not previously visited, the last season at HR, first season at Ricoh and perversely - that season in Northampton.
I didn't attend a single game but there felt a need to document a particularly dark period of our history.
Otherwise, the collection cuts off at 1981/82 but I've got practically everything 1970's -'60's - 1959 -'56 then it slows a little.
The two oldest City progs I own are aways from 1936/37 Spurs and Shef U.
I love collecting old programmes - even other clubs.

Its been great looking through these programmes, especially the 60's ones. I can actually recall many of the matches. Also many away games like the FACup tie at Wolves in round 6 in 1973. We took 15,000 there that day, but lost 3-0 I think. I remember that day as we were well up for it but alas the team weren't !

Think you mean Dougan. Not sure to be honest, but now you mentioned it I do recall him getting knocked out, but don't think it was this game ? They got 2 early goals, and we couldn't get back in the tie. We took a massive following, 50,000 gate.

Yes you’re right with name.. Derek Dougan! I was there but I seem to remember a delay? Maybe older people will put us right!

Don’t call me older. I was there. It was 2-0 with Richards scoring from
A Dougan knock down in the 6 th minute. We never recovered. Dougan was hit with a hard shot in the warmup and received treatment for about 5 mins but did start.

Fair point. Some were poor with loads of adverts. I think programmes are like team shirts, they are nostalgic etc. I just like collecting stuff !

My favourite programmes are the 60s ones with all the rival captains around the edge on the cover. Still got quite a few of those, and I only have to look at them to bring back the thrill of the Sky Blue era. Simpler days without the constant stream of live information and action, and almost no televised matches, which made the live games all the more magical.

I've mentioned it before but sod it I'll mention it again. I used to collect stuff as a kid/teenager, programmes, books, anything football related. When I left home I left most of it in boxes in a cupboard, it was years of collecting. Anyway I split up with my girlfriend after a year or so, and moved back home till I got my own place. I went looking for my treasured football memorabilia but nothing was there. My mum had lobbed the lot out ! She couldn't understand why I was angry ? She said it was only football stuff ! So in a small way getting this big programme collection makes up for my beloved late mothers madness. But I'm still going to carry on going in charity shops looking for bargains, and who knows may even see some of the stuff she binned !
