better than I thought he was, has come on a lot fair play to him proving a few of us wrong , solid few games

What did you think ?. Chelsea fans were quoted as wanting him to stay. Of course he will be an asset to a league one team. Was always going to take some time, like many of the new signings. Brown also improving and ogogo still to fire.

To be fair , I’ve seen a lot of players on loan in the past touted as being top quality that never went on to make the cut .

He started here very poor but has finally adapted And is playing really well

The thing is, he wasn’t ever that poor. People just wanted to jump on the kids back cuz he outed Grimmer, was a Chelsea Premier League loaner & earns far more than anyone in our squad despite not having ‘earned’ it yet.

And he had only just come here and was young too.

Not like us to give anyone any time to adjust and settle in though is it.

We would much rather conclusion jump and declare someone as a crap signing and a write-off.

I think fans were expecting an instant Paulo Mandini despite him never kicking a first team game in anger, he’s settled now, learned and is a real asset, glad we have him for rest of season and you never know might get another loan next season.
Also I reckon in time he’ll make an awsome right sided midfield player.

Alot if posters were putting down robin's recruitment

Now only real question mark left is ogogo?

He's a weird one. Robins basically saying he doesn't fit the system. When will he fit the system, and if he doesn't, why sign him?
He must be on a decent amount. I'm convinced he will come good though.

Looked like league 1 land a first gsme. Could do Doyle or Kelly role imo. Sure he will get a chance to play his part sooner or later.

Totally agree.

Still have high hopes for him. Think he will come good.

If we had tons of money floating about then by all means sign players who might not currently fit the system but are 'good' players. But we can't afford to be spending money we haven't got. So he must have a role eventually.

Edit: Back to Sterling anyway, sorry.

This will sound like I’m getting carried away but genuinely, it feels like the players are growing and showing signs of clicking into the system. By the time we get through Xmas we could be a real threat in this league and have a strong finish.

Quite a few on here were saying to give it time and that you can't just judge players and dismiss them after just a few games.

A lot were doing just that though and Sterling was written off as an awful addition to the squad.

Sometimes players do take time to get used to systems and do take time to adjust and new squads do take time to gel.

A few weeks back many were saying Sterling was a bad signing, as was Brown, Bakayoko and Hiwula.

Are we now saying any of them are bad signings?

Think the only doubts being bandied about now are on Ogogo, but he has hardly played yet anyway.

Hopefully we as fans will learn from this.

But I doubt it. ;)

I never "wrote him off" or thought it was "bad recruitment" or used him as a "scapegoat" either, however, Sterling was poor to start with for around 5-7 games and has now gotten better.

Some did though, vow.

Some were saying send him back and that he should never, ever play for us again.

We all know he struggled at first. No-one is trying to pretend he was great and now it's I told you so.

He just needed time to settle and we as fans should have allowed him that time to settle, rather than be saying he should never pull the shirt on again after just a handful of games.

Didn't rate him one bit weeks ago, but now I realise why he'll go on to be Chelsea's no1 RB.

Being subbed off at half time in the Bristol Rovers game and probably having an earful from Robins has really turned him around.

I still don’t really see why we signed both Hiwula and Bakayoko especially given Biamou was fit and first choice at the time.

Was Hiwula signed as a striker or did Robins think he could be moulded into a winger?

I think he was signed as it looked unlikely Chaplin was coming at the time. He also fits the Clubs model of buying young, improve them and sell on for a tidy profit.

He has just come in and played really well on the left last couple of games. I'm thinking if that has been worked on in training and Robins sees attributes in him that work better there or if he's just giving him game time and giving Shipley a rest.

Sterling was put in the team too soon he should have been given time to integrate into the squad before being thrown in. Grimmer didn't do anything to deserve being dropped between Wembley and the start of the season. If he had a few bad games then give sterling his chance. But it's going to be an interesting battle now with grimmer fit again great strength in depth

No, agree on that. Ogogo seems an odd one on the surface too.

Really Otis?

Ogogo when he was fit was the driving force behind Paul Hurst’s excellent Shrewsbury who nearly achieved promotion.

He’s a great signing as I doubt Doyle will last another season (although you never know!) and is great cover in the same mould in case of injuries. He’s a leader and a combative midfielder.

I feel that just like Brown it’s taken them time to get back from major injuries-extremely difficult to hit the ground running when you have a patchy pre-season.

Going back to Sterling, there are signs that he is starting to get to grips with league football and Keeping his concentration all through the game. Unfortunate that his ‘lapses’ have cost us a couple of key goals this season but looking at his performances since he has improved.

Honestly struggling to think of a city player in 30 years that has looked equally adept on both left and right full back roles. This is a massive plus and speaks volumes of the quality of a player.

Grimmer is one of those players that ‘tries’ but really doesn’t have the quality needed when wanting to move up the leagues.

His passing is awful and crossing atrocious.

But I do concede that he has scored a few decent goals and run up and down the right wing a few times with exuberance.

Defensively suspect too-can’t you remember him being caught ball watching last season and at fault for a number of headed goals?

So, they’ve all had a decent 10 minutes, Or 5 minutes in Bakayoko’s case.
Sterling has put one decent cross in, Brown has gone a couple of games without giving a penalty away, and Hiwula scored with a fantastic finish from 2 yards out!
Is that all it takes to go from zero to Hero?
The truth is it’s far too soon to judge any new arrival, I’d suggest leaving it till Christmas to make any decisions regarding value for money.
It’s the same with Michael Doyle, there’s plenty of fans saying he’s past it, his legs have gone, he can’t pass etc etc, but just wait till he’s missed a couple of games, the same fans will be desperate to have him back.
