Lots of solid performances without anyone being outstanding but I'll kick this off with Burge. At risk of jinxing him he's becoming Mr Consistent

Any other contenders?

Willis easily

I reckon it's out of Burge, Willis, Sterling, Davies, Bakayoko, JCH, Bayliss, Doyle, Mason, Brown, Shipley. Chaplin, Hiwula, Hyam and Thomas.

Burge is without doubt our most improved player and turning into a very good goalkeeper. Hard to judge our best player so far because the outfield has chopped and changed so much, I’d say before his injury Dominic Hyam but considering his age and having played every game so far we can’t look any further than Michael Doyle

Burge for me aswel after all the shit he has had off posters on here.
Same posters are still there waiting for him to make a mistake so they can say told you so.

Burge. Increasingly looking confident and instilling confidence in those around him.

Willis has been very consistent but I do feel the back 4 are able to play what's in front of them now without the worry of what is going on behind them. From that perspective Burge for me - has visibly improved all the suspect areas of his game.

Burge simple as. His improvement is immense.

WHY?
That's his opinion just because you hate him you can't see all the good work he does do on the pitch.
Funny you slaughtered Burge most of the time, must make you mad he is playing so well.

He’s not our best player - I hardly hate him - for some reason you are obsessed with Burge. The bilge you threw at Charles Cooke was worse than anything I’ve said about Burge

If you go by the amalgamated Player Ratings on this blog (excluding today) - so a "wisdom of the crowds"
Davies 6.95 from 6
Burge 6.75 from 9
Hyam 6.72 from 12
Willis 6.69 from 12
Chaplin 6.63 from 6

The shit he’s had off posters on here has often been because he dropped numerous clangers, akin to that seen in Sunday league.

This season, he has been superb thus far and blameless in any goal we have conceded, commanded his area, taken crosses and kept the majority of his kicks in play and for that reason I applaud what he has contributed. He still has a long way to go and was very lucky at the end today not to undo all of his hard work by flapping at that cross.

For me the change in his level of performance seemed to stem from the play-off run, where he made invaluable saves in both legs vs Notts County.

id say before that even... people were saying he wasnt good enoug for league 2, not ony has he proved them wrong, but he has shown himself to be one of the best in league 1 & im pretty confident he can continue to improve and make the step up again.

He used to wind the shot out of me. Was always a decent shot stopper but wouldnt come and claim the ball... whenever a ball gets crossed into the box now im just confident he will come and claim it. and he still a great shot stopper... his kicking never used to wind me up as much as it does some in the gorund, but thats improoved too.

Burge, as he's been the most consistent and pulled off some cracking saves too, with Doyle a close second as he continues to prove folks wrong, that write him off.
Never been a fan of Doyle's forward passing/creativity (or lack of it I should say) but his leadership, determination, work rate, drive etc. shouldn't be underestimated in this young team.

I'd argue hyam, Willis or burge. Hyam has done so well since he came in end of last season and really unlucky to be out the team.

Ive never really been that fussed about Willis, always seemed a bit erratic in the past but I've realised we need him in the team. Davies has been class as well since he came in.

Burge is the man now. Contract up end of season, get him signed up

I think Willis has been really really good this season. Need to get him signed to a long term contract. Same with Davies too.

Willis is fucking quality at this level imo. Pace alone he embarrasses quick strikers.

Really?
You haven't stopped moaning about him for the whole time he has been here, wasn't good enough for div 2 lol.

One thing is for sure I was right Burge is the better keeper.
