So... circumstances mean a move is in the offing, so on the offchance I get some local knowledge and useful advice from here (yeah yeah, I know!)

Mrs Wisdom has just got a new job that will involve heading to Oxford every day. As far as I can see, Banbury station's the quickest and cheapest from the area (she'd get subsidised travel from there too), so places like Stockton, Southam, (maybe Fenny Compton?) seem within reach.

Question is, where's worth checking out and where's to avoid around there, and is it all redundant anyway? Is Banbury station OK for parking, and is it possible to get there in the morning? Or would you be better off living somewhere like Budbrooke, walking to Warwick Parkway, and just changing trains?

Southam seems nice, but no direct knowledge of it. They do run a nice monthly car show on the cricket ground through the summer...

Southam is lovely, very good school there (not sure if this of interest.) Banbury station can be hectic for rush hour as you expect, only single roads, parking is OK there are a few car parks around there, so probably be ok.
Brackley which isn't far from Banbury, isn't a bad place, not a lot to do, but a nice town if you don't mind the quiet.

If Warwick Parkway is an option, is Leamington an option too? Trains down to Oxford are pretty frequent.

Yeah Leamington's quicker on the train than Warwick. No change needed, either. My main problem with Leamington is finding a house that's affordable, in easy reach of the station (the price is sufficiently extra for a season ticket it'd have to be within walking or cycling distance really), with some kind of countryside around it. Having grown up in the wilderness of North Yorkshire, Mrs. Wisdom goes a bit mental cooped up in towns or cities, so it needs an easy escape.

So I suppose Radford Semele direction could be an option?

Have you been running boat trips or something? Very posh :)

I have no idea about the places, good luck though!

If only I could afford the posh bits ;)

(I leave that to other posters around here, and then my champagne socialism can run unabated ;))

You'll need to go South of Leamington. Either way, you won't find a house within walking distance of the station for <£350,000 for a 3-bed. Theoretically speaking, if cycling is an option, Warwick which is cheaper could be a shout.

Radford Semele is an option. Consider Barford too, there's a few houses on the market there at the moment.
