Anyone else feel sorry for him? Comes off the bench and wins the game away at Charlton and plays 10 mins since. Thought he was the change for Jch last game

Anyone else?

Nope, just you I think. :)

He's getting game time and coming on in most matches. It is what it is and for me, JCH and Chaplin are the best combination up front right now for us.

He got his chance the next game in check a trade against forest green and wasn’t great. Plus JCH is playing too well to drop

Didn’t come on in last 2 games

I agree Jch and Chaplin to start but thought fresh legs would have made a difference at the top of the pitch

He's not really shown that he's any good at holding the ball up, crucial while we're defending a lead. I think also JCH's defensive qualities means he is generally going to stay on while we're leading.

That's the thing, JCH is better when we are defending a lead.

Bakayoko will be better when we are chasing the game (as per Charlton)

I think Charlton will be the exception not the norm

Not like you do dismiss a player without giving him time

I haven’t dismissed him but robins clearly is at present using him as s last resort

I don't think he is, he's been bringing Jones on instead of strikers the last few games hasn't he

Comments from you in the Charlton thread

WelIl done robins. He spends weeks chasing a goal scorer - in the meantime signs two players who aren’t good enough to play - and now his big signing is looking like a dud.

This one when someone comments that Bakayoko and Hiwula are coming on and JCH is going off;

Charlton must be quaking with fear.

Someone comments after a few minutes of Bakayoko being on the pitch that he had already won more headers than JCH. You reply;

There’s no chance of him scoring he’sa stupid signing.

You then said;

Great - the problem is when clarke Harris is having a poor gane there are no serious options - what possessed him to sign Bakayoko and Hiwula I can’t fathom.

From these comments I would suggest that you were one of the group who dismissed Bakayoko (and Chaplin and Hiwula). In the same thread you said that Robins was taking us down and that he had to go. You seem to have people who can do no wrong (not many) and those who can do no right (lots of them). You perhaps need to be a little fairer, less blinkered in your comments.

That'll be the day.

Grendel has a bull in a China shop approach to everything and a sweeping conclusion jumping nature.

He's all very much 'he is shit', 'they are crap' , 'this means this and that means that'.

Very little wiggle room for grey area with him.

He is like the pantomime villain and I think he thrives on that very concept of being such.

I must admit i judged him too early. There is something about this fella, but no ones put their finger on exactly what. He shocked most the sky blue faithfull with those two goals at the valley. Maybe a tad unfortunate not to get more mins as sub but thats about it.

Robins is handling him just right. He will have his moments im sure this season. Keep him chomping at the bit.

Took Dominic Hyam sometime to get in the team and is quality now, finds himself on the bench again biding his time to get back but he will, Bakayoko is similar he will get an extended chance in time and imo he’ll be a real asset. Look at Hiwula as a prime example, who’d have thought he’d become a regular basically wide left. We are blessed at the moment with a number of players warming the bench every week but when they come on the team isn’t weakened, how many games recently have we pulled out of the bag in the final minutes ?

I would hope he gets time against Walsall so he can do what lots of ex players do against us

At the end of the day unless you see a player day in day out at Ryton it's difficult to gauge the actual ability of said player. As a fan, we only get a snippet of 90 minutes or less to make a judgement of whether a player is good enough or not. So pre-judging a player is hardly a crime as every fan is guilty of it. (Although some posters on SBT might try and claim otherwise). I find those that say 'it's too early to judge' sit in two camps, either they're saying it for the sake of it or they're a fan who possesses complete trust in the current manager. But regardless of what camp you sit in no one really know's 100% if Bakayoko is going to make an impact this season. Otherwise they clearly possess an innate sixth sense and they wouldn't be sitting in the stands, but rather would probably find themselves sitting in the dugout. So like I said, it's hardly a crime to pre-judge a player when 90 minutes is all we have to make our decisions upon.

Admittedly I pre-judged him as well, especially as I haven't seen too much of him this season, and when I have it hasn't been great - but regardless I trust MR to develop him into a good striker at this level. On paper he's a perfect athlete so I'm sure MR can develop his footballing side as MR has a history of successfully nurturing young talent, especially up front, as shown with the success of Biamou and McNulty last season. Once this happens Bakayoko will get his chance. Like you said he's unfortunate not to get more minutes but he's still young and if he shows a desire to improve then he'll be just fine.

I said when we signed it it was baffling and I hope it didn't happen as he didn't look like the type we needed but as soon as he became a city player he had my support. That Chaplin finally arrived makes sense as he's there as the unit type to back up JCH
