Strangest thing Ive seem really.

Why anyone would do it and then film it and post it is bewildering

Police of course in full force will persue the case with zeal as in the end it’s a lot easier than finding muggers and burglars.

I can’t see how it’s a crime at all really but the people responsible should be shamed and be ashamed.

Too right they should.

Unbelievable as to why anyone would even conjure up the thought of this.

Heard on the radio they were trying to figure out if a crime has been committed.

Said in the other thread they deserve a kickin which will probably come from being named and shamed as a consequence.

No idea why somebody would do that and post it, obviously looking for some sort of strange internet fame.

Agree with that. Don't see how on earth it's a crime, and not sure it should be either for that matter but... it's definitely in remarkably poor taste!

Am charitably assuming it's a joke that missed its mark by the space of a continent.

Its a disgusting thing to do and its stupid to film it but has a crime been committed? Doesn't it all rest on intent?

Can see the police and CPS being pressured to get someone up in court for this and then the lawyers having a field day.

It’s a sick joke. People are outraged by it but there’s been 5 kids stabbed in London this week and nobody seems as outraged by that. Surely the police would be better of saving lives than being forced to look for convictions on something far more trivial.

I’m struggling to understand why anyone would do it - why even think of doing it?

Yeah, but for that even be in your mindset?

Someone, at some point said 'I've got a good idea'!

agree with every word. Sickening to see and a bunch of horrible bastards but a crime?

Apparently the police have visited the garden, a waste of time and resources surely?

The Police will have to, they have social media bandwagons pressuring them when they could be out doing something constructive.

People have been released while under "investigation". AKA trying to find a charge that might stick.

As disgusting as it might be, what I really can't fathom is the effort that they've gone to and the detail - even to the point of having people in windows. A misguided 'joke' almost certainly, but surely at some point during making the tower, reality would have kicked in and thought this really isn't a smart idea.

Trial by media from the pitch-fork wielding internet warriors is dangerous though, as I'm sure there will be a disproportionate response and at I'm sure at least one of them will come to physical harm once the papers have named them. Nobody has been hurt by this yet and lots of resource will be wasted investigating and then possibly in protecting the perpetrators. The best way to atone, regardless of if a criminal act has taken place, would be to make them do some community work with the survivors in the same area, although with tensions running high at present, I'm not even sure that would be a wise move.

Also I've seen it, but not with audio - were there any comments about the residents? I've seen lots of comments saying it was racist too and unsure if that was down to something said or just based on there being lots of black, Asian and overseas residents who were in Grenfell.

there were some unsavoury comments on the audio and there's no doubt in my mind those involved are racists but as much as I hate racism, I'm a bit uncomfortable with people being prosecuted for being racist in their own back garden.

Playing devils advocate though if it was a bunch of Muslims doing the same with a model of the twin towers, I suspect the comments would be different

It still wouldn't be illegal though, just in bad taste.

I guess they've achieved their aim of getting attention. Perhaps they could wear sandwich boards and parade around North Kensington?

difference between being racist in your back garden and posting it on social media across the world though isn't it??

People responsible for fake Grenfell fire held to account more than people responsible for actual Grenfel fire. Madness.

I certainly don't disagree with you, but that reflects more on the insipid state of our government and the judiciary system. These people should be named and shamed.

Yeah, appreciate that. I think they put it on a Whatsapp group and it found it's way from to social media from there.
To me these are totally repugnant people but I just feel it's a bit nanny state.

Post memes online about 9/11, Madeleine McCann, Hitler and WWII, Stalin - all is fine.

Post a video about Grenfell - you're a sicko.

For what it's worth, they did go too far. But to prosecute seems to be too excessive. And mainly I'm just sick of all the rank hypocrisy and people needing to be offended to get by in life.

Oh good, Ian's here to make this somehow the fault of the nasty Tories. Come on you've got lost, let me lead you back to the Brexit thread ….

That's quite a leap from Maddie to Hitler :)

If you think that it's OK that not a single person has been held to account for the Grenfell Tower disaster then it reflects more on you than it does on me.

Quite the contrary and as you can clearly see that is not what I've posted, you're just being mischievous. However, simply that blaming the government for everything bad is not my stock response.

If you noticed I also blamed the judiciary system, which is the responsibility of both this government and previous ones also. The fact is that this tragedy should never have occurred, and no culpability has been established for it when their is clear negligence. You saying I'm 'simply blaming the government' - but they have failed the people that dies, and equally those that survived.

It was an accident...A tragic accident caused by a fridge freezer i believe. Do you want the Highways agency to be brought to book for every road accident that happen's everyday ?

Shhh Dickhead...

you honestly think people want to hold the authorities to account for a faulty fridge freezer?
For fucks sake mate, if you haven't followed the story fair enough but don't come out with half cocked comments like that, you make yourself look stupid.

Google Grenfell cladding and educate yourself as to what the controversy is about, I'll say no more on the matter.

I know the story thank you very much but my point was that you want to blame everyone after the event happened.......The list is endless.
