What a bonus for us any sale could be just a reasonable percentage of any fee could allow MR good muscle in strengthening for a strong promotion push second half of the season.

It was a throw away comment to be honest. Just don't think signing for Chelsea is going to enhance his England prospects much unless he plays regularly for them and I just don't see that unless they have key injuries.

And besides, on your Loftus-Cheek remark, there has been much talk of his England place being at risk because he hasn't/hadn't been getting enough game time for Chelsea.
It’s the sort of thing that regularly happens though isn’t it. Player does well at a ‘small’ club for years without a sniff of an England place then moves to a ‘big’ club and is instantly called up.

I’m hoping he gets called up now though, he obviously deserves it and it would be more advantageous to us, both in terms of reputation and cash.

Maybe it used to be? But can hardly be said now can it? Maddison? Maguire? Mount? Think for the first time we are picking players on form, and credit, rather than big club players.

Is it just me that just doesn’t have that connection with Callum Wilson, his emergence came in the sixfields season to which plenty didn’t get to see or to warm to as we would of say like we did with McNulty last season.

Putting that aside tho he’s done very well in his career and come back stronger from injuries.

Having had a ST for Sixfields that season, I do feel the connection re. CW and some of the team as we played attacking football that season under Elvis and was great to watch, plus all the adversity surrounding the move and 10 point deduction seemed to galvanize the team.

Called up... Good man.. Shows Southgate actually picks on form and not name which is so refreshing as England manager.

So happy for him. First time since we were in the Prem I’ve seen a player come through and think they’d play for England. Thought his knee might have taken it away but he thoroughly deserves this. Made some great career decisions and seems like a down to earth guy. Good for the club’s coffers and academy reputation. Those guys at the academy deserve a medal for the work they do, we’d be nowhere without them.

It’s a shame that the fa don’t reward teams that who produce players for England through their academy.

I’m delighted for him. Remember when he came off the bench and scored for us against Colchester. I fondly remember saying at the time that he was going to go far. Funnily enough I said the same about Devon Kelly Evans.

Big fan of Callum. He's still a long way short of the finished article though.

There might even be an add on from Bournemouth for an England Cap. Hope he gets his chance.

If he was to leave Bournemouth, I think they'd want an astronomical fee based on current form... can't imagine they need to sell him and they would need to spend a lot to replace him. They could easily hold out for over 50m if he keeps fit and scores goals all season.

They could definitely hold out for 50m and why shouldn't they given his quality and form. But whether they'd get 50m is another matter entirely. Wilson's injury record is a bit of a black spot on his record and will ultimately effect his price tag. But as you say lets hope his form continues. Everyone's mentioning Chelsea as his potential go-to destination. But perhaps a more realistic club who are also in need of a striker is Everton....judging from recent spendings they wouldn't batter an eyelid at forking out 50m for a goalscoring striker.

don't know whether it still runs but there was a scheme a few years back for teams playing academy graduates but it was peanuts.
as far as the FA, England etc. the way PL clubs trawl and pillage other league club academies it would only keep the money at the top anyway.

Good luck to him-hope he gets on the pitch or at least makes the bench.

He was unstoppable at Sexfields with Clarke - good luck to him - i would be surprised if there was any follow on fee after this lenght of time

Gosh I didn’t think there were any six field attendees on here. Ban him

I still shudder at the very name of Sixfields and it still makes me sick to my stomach that I missed a whole season of watching my football team because of a bunch of utter, utter barstewards!

I have to disagree, he would get in most prem sides, big strong fast and can score goals, think he needs to move from Chelsea tho.

Not sure Chelsea would suit Wilson I alway imagine him in a arsenal shirt, he’s a goal scorer so put him in any team that creates and he will score
Playing with Eden Hazard would suit anyone.

Delighted for him.

I admit I was one who expected us to release him at the end of his academy scholarship as he wasn't prolific and came across as one of those players that really gives it everything but maybe the quality wasn't quite there. What I did see of him was him being played wide right but the move into the middle really helped him blossom, especially in the big man-little man combo.

Still blows hot and cold and needs a few chances to score but if he's in a team that creates a lot like Chelsea he could easily be 20+ a season in the Prem. His injuries have hampered him but he keeps plugging away so I hope he gets a decent run out in the Croatia game as that's meaningful (but if he only gets a minute or two against the US so be it for the £££)
