An interesting article in today's Daily Telegraph about two talented players who have gone to the Dutch Leagues rather than play U23 Football.
One is Dan Crowley, described as"raised in Coventry". Moved from Villa academy to Arsenal when he was 16.

My old man played with Ian Muir for Cov Boys. He was deadly. Could score from pretty much anywhere.

Top of my list. Totally embarrassed me in a game. Thankfully he did the same to someone else in the second half.

Is he related to the one for Bristol City?

I'll leave that with you then.
I genuinely want to know if I'm honest, I'm aware there are shades of grey in the world. For me I'm born and bred cov so there is no question for me. If Whittingham was born in Nuneaton, lived in Nuneaton and went to school in Cov, he's not a cov lad as far as I'm concerned.

Dans father Dave Crowley was a good player and captained Nuneaton borough - Watch this space as Dan Crowley was destined for the very top by Arsenal Arsene Wenger particularly - he appeared for England at all schoolboy levels and was the star player - he will no doubt be back at either championship or premiership level

There is a clear Cov connection though. Where did he play his junior football before he joined Villa? Nuneaton and Bedworth have their own junior leagues, but the better players and teams usually end up playing in the Cov junior leagues so would be interesting to know. Also, what about Bigirimana? Yes, born in Africa but grew up in Cov with family who as far as I know sill live here, so does he count as a Cov lad?

Not for me he's not, he moved to Cov with his family. That's just how I see it though. Still can't see Whittingham as from Cov either. What is 'from Coventry' in your opinion?

Well not me by the sound of it. I was born away as my Dad was in the forces. Mother's family from Cov & father's from Nottingham. Until I was 20 I lived in Cov for 3 years & Rugby for 13 years, but because of family connections always regarded Cov as my home town. Looks like I was wrong :)

I'm not saying I am right. It's just the way I look at it. I'm aware that there are shades of grey on this as I've previously said. Interesting to hear your take on it.

I was just about to put James Quinn as I played in the same youth side as him, but the best young player I saw was Adam Wratten who played for Birmingham City a few times but had a bad injury and is now in Australia he was a brilliant footballer

Craig Herbert.

Played for West Brom amongst others.

I actually played against him in a charity match a few years ago. His touch was still there but his legs were gone.
