The biggest crowds each season in the Premiership since Wasps arrived here:

2014/15 Saracens v Harlequins 84,068
2015/16 Saracens v Harlequins 80,650
2016/17 Exeter v Wasps 79,657
2017/18 Harlequins v Northampton 77,825
2018/19 Northampton v Leicester 40,013

In total attendance for the current season so far Northampton are top then Bristol, Leicester, Bath, Gloucester, Harlequins and Wasps in 7th.
sorry that should have read third tier I was on about Cov Rugby Club.

No, it usually is hence it's said

Grendel isn't my alter ego, there you go again making stuff up. Can't help yourself can you? Just proving my point.

Point out what I have said... Not somebody else.
There you go again can't help it can you.
Never said you had said it, I said it has been said.
Just happened to be your twin that said it.;)

If it doesn’t it will acknowledge that it’s impossible to prevent sisu from court action and therefore move on from this irrelevant argument

It will prevent Mr Ellis from opening various ridiculous twitter accounts which are all aimed at portraying the club in a negative light. Let’s be honest if the trust cared about anything Mr Ellis would be nowhere near the trust hierarchy.

Likewise you can't help reverting to making things up...

If somebody else has said something, take it up with them. You might want to pay attention when people mention alter egos, seems you are way behind ;)

When folks can read things coherently and carry on their own point from one post to their next, let's talk. Until that day, I'm out. Will go back to lurking as this is way too much effort!

It's good for the city that Wasps are here. Blaming them for CCFC's mess is gonna get you nowhere fast. CCFC and Wasps can both be successful and both play at the Ricoh. Not complicated.
The arrival of those c7nts has risked the future of our club by taking our home away. Admittedly this was driven by SISU initially and certainly isn’t intentional however it has had a serious knock on affect to our club and potentially put us out of business. We will never get to the point where both clubs will co exist evenly, that ship has sailed a long long time ago. Effectively our club will always play second fiddle to the insects.

For Cov rugby club, I think it has urged a lot of fans into their stands but this has coincided with the positive approach made by their owner so I would agree to a certain extent that this may have jolted CRC into action but nothing to do with any positive press from the insects

IMO i think as a fanbase we're becoming arrogant to the fact that because we were here first that essentially makes us untouchable. Believe me there are more reasons why Wasps shouldn't let CCFC continue playing at the Ricoh, than why they should. From a business perspective there is essentially no reason whatsoever why Wasps should continue the relationship and I may get a backlash for this but in all fairness why on earth should they continue that relationship.
On a business level from their perspective I agree with you.

But surely that's all the more reason to put some pressure on them?

Coventry Rugby are only improving on and off the pitch since Wasps arrived. In a higher league and breaking attendance records. Stand to be corrected, but the overall effect on rugby in the area seems to have been really positive.

The issue that Wasps' move has caused the football club isn't the stadium ownership etc., it's that casual sports fans are being offered a better social thing or family day out than the City.

The way they run match days and engage with the community incl. local clubs made Cov Rugby up its game in that area and they've seen the benefit of copying that approach. People have started going there that weren't going before.

The football club, like most football clubs, took its fans for suckers for decades assuming they'd keep turning up irrespective of the quality of the experience. Now that an alternative is on offer at the same location, they're playing catch up.

I understand the urge to blame Wasps for the mess we're in but it's just using them as a scapegoat. It's like the argument people make about big clubs 'deserving' to be in higher divisions; it's sh*te. You are where you deserve to be and the club did this to itself.

Don't misconstrue this as criticism of the fan base, die hards, casuals or stay aways. I'm just of the opinion that if you blame someone or something else you miss what you're doing wrong and don't deal with the root cause.

You're mistaking correlation for causation here.

The reason Cov RFC are doing well is that they've invested shrewdly in the team, got a very smart man at the helm in Rowland Winter, and got themselves promoted.

So, nothing at all to do with Wasps, who if anything will be having a negative effect on the club, especially at those times when (despite assurances) they play on the same day.

Apologies if this seems like I'm snapping your head off, but this myth needs slaying.

Similarly, Wasps clearly do have a part to play in City's demise; no one held a gun to their head and forced them to uproot themselves and step into the middle of this. They got a stadium rather cheaply, and in doing so bought ACL who you may remember were already involved in court action with SISU at that point in time. Now it's apparently perfectly reasonable for them to demand that the action is stopped before negotiating a new deal. Forgive me if I don't see it the same way as you.

Sadly people but get told things and believe it and repeat it with no interest in finding out more.

Wasps and the other premiership rugby clubs are also trying to pull up the trapdoor behind them and abolish promotion and relegation. Thus stamping all over the chances of Cov or any other club doing an Exeter and rising. Contemptuous of sport. So long as they are ok that’s all that matters.

So, I’ve not posted much for a while whilst the world and this forum goes into meltdown. A long Xmas break has started well with spending time with my son...two months old already! Anyway, I felt compelled to jump in on this one on a couple of points.

* The £200m won’t be split evenly amongst the top clubs. Whilst ‘a lot’ will, some will be spent on the evolution of the the game in the UK, grassroots, partnerships etc. To say that W&@ps will get circa £15-20m is inaccurate.

* If they do get a wedge, it’ll be interesting to see what they do with it. Will their owner take back some of what he’s owed or will it be used in anyway as payments towards the bond scheme.

* Finally, on the point of W£&ps being good for the city...of fuck off! The parasites coming to Cov is absolutely abhorrent for true sports fans all over the UK. For our fans to moan (rightly) about our sojourn to Northampton and then to think it’s ok for the insects to be here is just madness. My biggest wish (other than eternal happiness for my fambo) is for W£&ps to fuck off back to London.

May I suggest the atmosphere at the Accrington game was down to the team's performance .

It wasn't. I keep hearing this but the fact is, the PUSB sung before kick off was no louder than when 8k are there. We played worse in games last season with 7k there and there was a better atmosphere.

It was full of bandwagon Coventrians who I'm sure go to Wasps games with free tickets. Not that I'm slating the idea, but it felt like the only rugby game I've been to before.

People always say that Wasps have a 'match day experience' which CCFC do not offer. However, the people I know who have been to a Wasp game this season have said that it makes CCFC games feel like the Istanbul Derby. No songs, empty seats and people in attendance who have no real connection to the rugby club.

A friend of my son came with us to the Stoke game last season. This guy lives in Tamworth and attends the occasional Wasps game. Now the atmosphere was really crackling during this match with only 14k in attendance. That atmosphere continued after the game as people were leaving the stadium, lots of loud, raucous and jubilant singing. I asked him how that atmosphere compared to that for Wasps and he admitted that the rugby is nothing like what he witnessed that day. Unfortunately as we were walking towards Tesco we came across a bunch of Stoke ‘fans’, trying to push past a police cordon to walk towards the tunnels under the railway. We tried to give the pushing and shoving a wide berth but unfortunately it spread into our bath and the friend’s little lad got caught up in the melee. Nothing serious, he wasn’t hurt, just scared. This sort of thing is something else that doesn’t happen at the Rugby and I think is a reason why some people stay away from football. Certainly the little lad and his dad haven’t been back since even though, before this incident, they enjoyed the day.
Incidentally, according to this chap, there are quite a few Wasps ‘fans’ in Tamworth.

Didn't mean to claim there's a direct link, read my post back and that's not clear. Was taking issue with the idea that they've had a detrimental impact on Cov Rugby as some are claiming and / or predicting when they first pitched up at the Ricoh.

But let’s be clear about it, the insects don’t want CRC ever being successful as it will take fans away from their own club

Only thing I was pushing is that Wasps are working hard to support grass roots rugby in the area which isn't up for debate. A club captain at a Cov club told me early on that in the few months following their arrival he'd had more contact from Wasps about support for coaching etc. than he'd had from CRFC in the decade previously. CRFC have upped their game in that area since. Everything I see tells me that its having a big impact on participation at grass roots level as well which can only be a good thing. More people playing sport is good for the city.

Which also wasn't the point being made when you tried to make out CRFC have only improved because of Wasps being here.

It is a city of Rugby after all isn't it?

W***s aren't pushing grass ro0ts for the benifits of the City. It's only to generate interest in themselves to gain more fans. It's that old PR machine rolling out again, sucking in people like you. Grassroots rugby in Coventry hasn't been in CRFC interests for a couple of reasons. 1) They're a lower league club that can ill afford to spend money on local grassroots (unlike premier league clubs who are paid by the RFU to fund such things). 2) Coventry grassroots (for as long as I can remember) has been a pool for Northampton Saints to pick players from. Why would CRFC fund training local players for Saints to come and pick them up for free?

Phew... lot to work through here... written as a Coventry City Fan, man and boy.... and a Wasps season ticket holder..

Given what we know, Wasps aren't going anywhere, they (we?) are heavily invested into the Ricoh (which is looking promising next year) and given the investment into Old Leamingtonians, no plans to move back to London or go bust, despite what the noisy few on here may make you believe. They might even be looking at a 13M windfall, pretty desperate times eh?

Simple one this: 4th in the top flight league with a game in hand (roughly) - not exactly a club in distress.

Sunday (as of Wednesday) is the biggest gate receipt they've had - I suspect they chose their words carefully, probably to keep the "my mate at work has a free ticket and I don't know anyone that has ever bought one" quiet, wise up, they're not a charity.

There's plenty of people in the City that regularly go to the Wasps. Guess what.. they don't post on here that often, but take a walk around the City Centre, however much you are disgusted by it, people are wearing Wasps colours (as they are CCFC colours), and the hatred of people wearing a Wasps coat at a CCFC game borders on... dunno... you work it out.

My genuine, naive advice is embrace Wasps, let them know the CCFC fanbase would like them as partners, convince them to work against SISU, not organise a 100 strong protest at a Wasps game where you will be drowned out by a 20K (average) Wasps home crowd, come on, this isn't primary school.

Finally, don't get me started on taking great delight in "throwing my wasps tickets in the bin that they gifted my daughters dance school" - seriously, this is business, it's a loss leader, maybe one person will enjoy it, and that leads to the family going, and they buy a few beers... please, be sensible.

There we go... go hate... fill your boots... I'm looking forward to tomorrow...

What do you want Nick - shall I say 17K... which is wikipedia's number (attendance, home/away not specified), and you think the average rugby (let's be child-like and call them "egg chasers") fan, be it home or away will let themselves be drowned out by a small handful of anti-Wasps/Rugby people who have organised a "mass protest" - come on.

Where have I said that?

Are they all home fans then at games?

What are you actually on about? Another one straight from the marketing book of nonsense.

Who has mentioned a protest in this thread? You are being far too obvious by jumping into a thread where there is no mention of it.

Think you and the one person who had an issue with somebody wearing wasps clothes are child like. There's hardly any wasps clothing around Coventry on Mon match days also for the record.

Surprising all these lifelong city fans who sign up to defend people talking about wasps.

Don’t agree with all you say but do believe you are right re Wasps not going anywhere soon.
Whatever the rights and wrongs, as things stand, we must work with Wasps or we are likely to cease to exist as a football club.

As much as I hate Wasps I can't really argue with much you say here. I don't think a handful of city fans going to wasps will do any good at all. I don't think there is anything we as supporters can do as long as the lunatic running SISU remains hell bent on destruction.
