Yes just Cov, well it will be the area Cov Council cover which might not exactly match the city boundaries but will be pretty close.

Problem is developers can sit on the land. That then forces the council to unlock greenfield sites to meet the new housing requirements, land also owned by the developers, who can then build nice new estates that make them a much bigger profit margin.

Exactly. I worked as a contractor on new housing developments for many a year for companies like Bloors, Wimpy, Westbury Homes and when they were taken over Persimmons too. Of those the only one with any interest in brown field sites was Bloors, maybe because they were smaller and still privately owned. The others had brown field sites but the only time I worked on one was with Wimpy and I think they only used them for young new site foremen to cut their teeth. Every site I worked on for Westbury or Persimmons was greenfield. In fact I was told by a site foreman at the time of the Persimmons takeover the only reason Persimmons wanted Westbury was because they had the largest land bank in the industry at the time.

They’re building an entire new town on the outskirts of Rugby at the moment on the site of the old radio station. There’s space. What there isn’t is an appetite by developers to develop the land that they have in their land banks. The government has changed the law to make it easier to develop these land banks but they’re still reluctant to do so. The reason! Over inflated house prices because of a housing shortage increases their profits and pleases their share holders.
Still. It’s probably easier to blame immigrants so let’s do that instead.

They are building an extension to Hillmorton effectively, though they're pushing it as a new oversized village. It isn't a new town and it is totally unnecessary. Plenty of housing still going up in Cawston and north Rugby near the M6. There is also new housing in Long Lawford .
We are sucking in an extra 200 - 300,000 immigrants a year and so it is right to raise this as a factor in pressure on housing.

I have a confession: I get a bit cheesed off every time I walk past a shop which is clearly for eastern Europeans simply because the signage above the doors is emblazoned in Polish/Hungarian etc. It makes me angry . It makes me think of segregation rather than integration.
On the other hand I work closely with Polish workers on site and my neighbours are a young Polish family whom we get on with extremely well. I find them respectful, hard working and family orientated.
I have a conflict here and can't reconcile the two emotions.

I guess integration is a two way streak. There isn’t a sign on the door saying no British. The world is shrinking, you’re just going to have to grow up and deal with it.

Pre bagged salad - 170g for £1 (2days) = 50p

Frozen Veg - 1kg - £1 / 14 days = 8p
Rice - £1.70 / 13 days = 14p

£2.54 for a full days healthy eating, where you will be full all day. Plenty of money for things like eggs, milk, flour, chocolate, etc. Not bad considering you now have a roof over your head, no bills and you've never paid into the system.

That's just food, what about heat, light and water? Where do you keep your frozen food? How do you boil the water for your tea? Oh and how do you get to Sainsburys?

We have been starting wars. And when I say we I mean us, our allies and our Saudi overlords. We've been doing it since the 50s

No not at all it’s to engage in discussion that’s the narrative. We each have a story and experiences that can be broad or narrow but will be broadened by having the conversation on here or in person. Granted, but I do think that when you have a Polski Delikatessee (excuse spelling) parked up next to a Spar, as is the case in an area of Rugby where I live, I do wonder whether it brings people together or actually creates a dividing line. Both shops serve the local community well and happily both seem to continue to survive economically, but of course you rarely see Eastern Europeans in the Spar ,which wasn't the case before the Polish shop opened, which I always felt was a good thing in many ways. Now they don't bother, unsurprisingly.
