Fantastic result and great to be out of the drop zone.

However, we are by no means safe.

The boys have to carry on and I hope they don't let off the gas now.

For me 3 more wins and I think we should be ok.

Fight till the game is won....

Agreed. I'm happy to celebrate when we've won a game (especially considering the season we've had), but there is still a long way to go. The sudden support of sisu and to an extent thorn is also incredibly short sighted.

Hear hear. Ridiculous to support the manager during the crucial run in period, what mugs we are. I can take relegation, but having to modify my opinion on an internet forum will not do at all. Every platitude I give him will be tinged with the proviso 'he was shit at the start of the season', because that will mean I was right all along. Do not feel like you need to celebrate my stance; there are many more like me. You will find us involving ourselves in little arguments that do no parties much credit.

Firstly, although i disagree with people on the forum, i'm positive that nobody wants city to get relegated. secondly the point i'm making is that whether we go down or not we have to make sure we focus on the long term future of the club

Think theres too much of a black & white attitude to Thorn. Imo he was making a lot of mistakes earlier in the season, but he now seems to have learnt from them.

The criticism of him before was justified and the praise of him now is also justified.

Think that's probably right, but it's just amazing how different the attitude is towards him when we win compared to when we lose.

There's one thing that has changed recently. Freddie has finally left the club. he according to my sources was disliked around the dressing rooom. His family drank all the money put over the bar collectively by the players for the after match gatherings. there were groups of his family taking advantage. With him gone AT got rid of someone who was a disruptive influence and refused to get fit enough. It's clear AT has the players with him and probably more so since this free loader left! All just opinion of course and from the great rumour mill in the sky!

You don't half come out with some bollocks.

I come home from games and read your nonsense about AT needing to sub Bigi for 'Deagan' etc. You're listening on the radio FFS, how can you tell what needs to be done?

When was the last time you actually went to a match?

'My sources'? It's what you've read on here you chump.

Please stop it.

The point is that AT was our only hope, Sisu would have replaced him with the tea lady. Thank God he stuck with it, some of the cretins who expected him to know how to walk on water from the off, with a decimated team, kids, no money,....you couldn't make it up.

Whether we get relegated or not, in my opinion Thorn has done a top job. We deserve to go down, and if we beat the drop then the bloke deserves a knighthood.

I am struggling to understand a lot of this.

AT did not deserve everything thrown at him. We saw at the end of last season what he could do with a half decent squad. He lost this squad closed season. Yes, he made mistakes. Was he the only manager making mistakes? Did he even have players ready to put on in games?

Now we have gone from one extreem to another. Knighthood? I never pulled him to bits however bad it got. Inexperienced manager and inexperienced players. Now there are pats on the back for AT. Well done AT. Why? He is doing the job he is paid for. Yes, we are doing better, but that was not hard to improve on, although how many expected a run like this at the best time of the season to go on a run?

Save the applause and pats on the back for AT until we are safe. Let's have a party at Southampton knowing we are safe. Then hope our players are still here next season. If so get your money on us for promotion :D

Why has this thread degenerated into a mud slinging contest? The OP is exactly right in that we are by no means safe, despite the massive steps we've taken in the last few weeks. 6 games is a long time at the bottom. We need to look at this like a World Series or a Stanley Cup tie. Saturday gives us a head start in a best-of-seven and that is all. That is not to sound negative, but it is the reality of the situation. We must all now genuinely believe that we can do it, but it is far from done and dusted.

As for AT, he clearly has the players on his side and that is more than can be said for many recent managers at this stage of the season. At the end of the day he's a human being, and a human being who is under an enormous amount of pressure (have we forgotten that he was in hospital not so long ago?). He is no doubt doing the best job that he can do and he should not be subject to some of the abuse seen on here in the past few months. As for the calls for a knighthood, there is such a thing as exaggeration, and sometimes exaggerating the positives is a much nicer thing to do than highlighting the negatives.

Don't think we do need to calm down a bit. Don't think you quite realise just how massive that away win was. it was everything. A monkey off our back. We will now surely going into the Burnley and Bristol games believing we can win. Our home form has been excellent and now our away from these last 3 games reads drawn 2, won 1.

Let us not lose the signifcance of this result yesterday. No wonder we are euphoric. Yes, stil a long way to go, but we are the form team, we are the team on a good run and we are the team with momentum. We now have AT saying we're going to go for remaining unbeaten for these last 6 games.

That win yesterday was so massive and our spirit and morale must be sky high.

This is all very true Otis. And an away win in particular is a huge result. The difference between this board and Bristol City's in the the last few weeks is almost unbelievable considering we're one point ahead of them. Apparently they were chanting for the team to 'play with some pride' yesterday. It seems such a long way from where our squad is at the moment.

After nearly 6 whole months entrenched in the bottom 3, we find ourselves out. That is the reason for any OTT euphoria, and I don't blame anyone for it-but we now have to focus on not going back into it.

Exactly. FIVE months in the bottom three and now moving out with just 6 games left ...... of course we are euphoric!!!

I don't think we should calm down. It's been a long time since we've had anything to celebrate, so why shouldn't we go a lit mad. Let's leave the "buts" for another day.

On another note. Didn't McDonald take that goal well! Brilliant stuff.

Was thinking about this last night and remembering how Stan Laurel had to eat his hat in "Way out West." In the end he put salt on it before he ate it. I am pondering over ketchup or mayonnaise for mine!

It was April 1st, here in Aus when I read that we had won 2-0. I had just woken up and checked the results on my phone.

Which response came to my mind first:

A. Happy April Fool's Day
B. We won? A game?
C. We won our first game away from home this season?
D. We're out the f***ing relegation zone?
E. Who the hell is THAT in my bed with me?

Spot on. Totally unreasonable to expect anything but a relegation fight.

Queue Otis saying "I expected a bit of a struggle but not to be 8 points adrift around Xmas"

According to Colonel Mustard yesterday Thorn hasn't had to players fighting until recently.

Funny how people's memories get clouded by results.

I think I DO realise how important this win was thank you.

I think if you read my original post I am not getting carried away with the win as if we are safe. Of course it's a fantastic result but it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

We still have 6 tough games and anything can still happen. The wind is in our sails now and it is only up to us to succeed or fail now.

IMO... win 3 more games and we should be ok.

What i don't want to see is the boys letting off now. They have to do what they have done in the last 6 games for the next 6 games.

We are 50% there.

AGREED! To many on hear are thinking were staying up already. If that attitute starts to rub off onto the players were down. We have loads to do to stay up and next Monday night we could well be in shit street.

We need 3 wins to stay up and possibly another draw. No where near that stage where we can sit back and light up that cigar.
