Footballers aren't badly paid. Rent a little one bed near Ryton and stay there while leaving your family where they are now if the travel is killing you.

League 1 and 2 footballers are on comfortable salaries but it's far from life-changing money. Renting a place in addition to paying a mortgage would still be tricky financially for a majority I would guess.

Brown would be one of our highest paid players and as he came here on a free would have received a decent signing on fee. Ogogo's signing on fee was rumoured to be £300k for example.

It was only a couple of weeks ago people were saying what a breath of fresh air Kelly had brought to the team...

Now... generally I agree with this. I think it's often overlooked how the general running of the club impacts on performance. However, on these individual cases, I've got questions.

Why would it mean these two would be out the team, and not others?
Almost as soon as Brown came, there were rumours (maybe even from you?) that he'd fallen out with Robins. There were also rumours (again... from you? That Burge and Robins had had a blow-up early season but... Burge is still in the team, Brown gets relegated behind a 17yo in the pecking order. Whilst I can buy performances dip as minds are preoccupied that's not just a dip, that's a savage decline. I'm just wondering if in this case it's as much an excuse, as anything else. That's not to suggest off-field events have no impact, that'd be crazy, but it's not like if we were to sign a deal, Brown would suddenly turn a bit Roberto Carlos.

The Burge thing wasn't a fall out it was just that O'Brien was preferred and first choice going into the season. That has changed since.

Could buy two houses yourself to rent out for your retirement with the cost.

Even if he was, guessing he'd be on no more than about 3 grand a week. Still isn't life-changing money. 300k signing on fee I highly, highly doubt.

Prior to Brown being on the bench on Saturday, have either been playing in the under 23's or have they been totally frozen out?
