I swear some of us would have taken some of those chances and done a better job from the spot at Fleetwood. Granted, I would have been gasping for air after a minute
That header Chaplin missed I'd have taken the ball and the net just to make sure.

No, it's not effective. It's such fine margins though.

I don't think we are a bad team at all. Put McNulty in there as the one change and we would surely be in the playoffs.

How long can "not far off" go on for though?

Before you know it, we could be sucked into the bottom four then gone, Robins needs to turn it around quickly (which I hope he does)

Why?

We have missed open goals. McNulty would clearly have knocked most of them in. If so, we would have at least 9 more points.

It's the final ball, the missing of fabulous chances and dithering in the penalty area that has let us down.

We are one good striker away from having a decent team.

Nowt delusional about it.

I agree. We just need a striker in form. Chaplin is young and still has time to come good. Shame he’s being written off

Everyone team can make the same comments - why we haven’t had points. Mcnulty has a patchy record outside of league two.

Our midfield is often over run, the whole left side poor and we concede too easily

Yes it’s delusional

Nope. I think you are delusional.

You seem to be saying that a decent striker would also be missing all those open goals.

Any decent, in form striker would be putting those JCH, Chaplin, Hiwula and Bakayoko sitters away.

That alone would have us with at least 9 more points. At least.

If we were in the playoffs right now would you still be saying we are a poor side?

You are the one that is delusional unfortunately.

We are not all far off being a decent side in this league.

I'm not saying we are a playoff side, but clearly any striker worth his salt would have been putting many of those gilt-edged chances away.

We should have so many points under our belts right now.

As soon as a striker starts putting those chances away you watch us climb the table.

There is though of course the notion that maybe the strikers just aren't good enough at all anyway and will keep missing.

That happens and we WILL be in trouble.

Don't get it.

Did at first, because Chaplin clearly claimed it and it looked like he maybe did get a toe end on it, but having looked at the slow mo it appears to go past him.

If there is any doubt the goal has to go to Thomas surely.

There wasn't any doubt from the moment it went in.

It's embarrassing.

Does it even matter?
Now if he was claiming 4 or 5 goals then maybe but 1 who cares.

You can apply your argument to the games we have won that we were lucky to get points in.

In the end the table doesn’t lie and the current run of 17 doesn’t either

We have been competitive pretty much all season.

There has been many a year where we have looked a very poor second and struggled in games.

This season we have dominated a number of teams but failed to polish them off.

It's such small margins and we all know it shouldn't be that run of 17 games. We definitely should have had more wins on the board.

We have worse form than with Slade the last 17 games. Is that competitive?

With a stronger midfield hopefully that will let our 'strikers' move further forward to miss lots of chances ;)

I tend to agree, as the counter argument doesn’t take in to account how many ‘sitters’ our opponents have missed, or in which games their top scoring striker didn’t play...or indeed, when our defence and Burge made (unusually) good plays. Over the course of the season, everything tends to even out and the general pattern dictates our position.

Doesn't even out of you've got crap strikers though.;)

There’s a difference in context though isnt there? Slade took over a fairly established League 1 side and bombed it, Robins took over a club heading for League 2 and brought us back. He’s had to rebuild and get players to up their game. We’re not terrible as Otis says, we were under Slade.

You can see a young squad that will improve, and a couple of signings that it would’ve been reasonable to expect to come off (Ogogo in particular) that for whatever reason didn’t.

There’s reasons to be cheerful, as long as we don’t get sucked into a relegation battle. I wish we’d had pushed for promotion this year but it doesn’t look likely. It’s a matter of a bit of confidence, experience in this league, and luck with signings and injuries though. Not mass mismanagement.

Another decent display and got what we deserved today. People are going to have to wait at least another week I suspect

We’re 11th, 7 points off of playoffs, after 32 games, the comparison between Slade’s 17 games is plain stupid.

Now we’ve beaten Rochdale, I can see us winning the next 2-3, equally we’ll probably go on a losing run after that. That’s been the pattern this year, and that’s indicative of a naive, young team.

Building on this in the summer and we can compete in the playoffs because we do have a good core of young players.
