Stockdale is an ex-England international and played most of his football in Premiership. He ought to be better than Burge. As someone mentioned, he’s on massive wages at Bham.

It’s also rather silly to get overhyped by one performance. If we can get a better GK, then I’d happily make that signing.

His one appearance in the England C squad

I can't believe the slating Burge is getting on here for what, some guy from Brum who came here on Friday on a loan for a week, makes his debut "albeit" the only one game, does ok,not really tested, makes one reasonable good save, bread & butter for most keepers though and suddenly Burge is being frozen out, what ,after one game, against a poor Rochdale side, some need to get a grip
Actually I agree that Burge is one of the best keepers in League 1
We don't concede a lot of goals but because we don't score many the few bad errors he's made are more costly
It's the wrong end of the telescope - we need to score two or three in games when we're on top

How many games has Chaplin cost us as well?

Burge has been a solid keeper for a few years now.

Quite a few and he is now getting splinters in his arse in the bench, Burge has kept his place in the last few weeks as there has been nobody else. I can’t agree that he is solid he makes the whole team nervous with his flapping and his appalling distribution

It is more the simple stuff that he did well and Burge hasn’t been in the last few weeks missing crosses and bizarre behaviour

About 40 more than Burge will ever play then

True but the notion he’s played most of his career in the premier is typical Mucca shite.

Over a third if games have been in the conference or league two

I haven’t looked back at his stats, I knew he was at Fulham but had forgotten about him really

Harsh. Burge has done well for us. Judging Stockdale to be 'streets ahead' based on one game is ludicrous. I'd love him here - especially if Burge is off, but if he is that good why isn't he between the sticks at a higher club than Blues, or paying for their first team? P.S. I hope he turns out to be Gordon Banks Mark2, and signs for us next season.
The other point to make is that we played the most toothless team we've played all season. They barely put a ball in the box that was difficult to defend

No it was from the lads on the coach today but if that's already refuted then perhaps that was their source. Either way I imagine it is sizeable and beyond our means long term.
Exactly even if he's on 10,000 a week must be double what we are paying anyone else.

I wasn’t sure on Wilson but I think I only saw him in one game at home maybe playing right wing, I didn’t see him at Northampton.

All Stockdale done really was one good save and caught a few crosses, yet people are amazed at how good he was. That to me highlights what people's expectations are.
Wow, he caught a cross, amazing!!! Why are people amazed at a keeper doing his meat and drink? Because we haven't seen it happen for 4 bloody seasons that's why!

What noticeable is that Stockdale is a very big unit, doesn’t seem the most agile or quick as Burge.

But my point is Stockdale doesn’t look like he’s easily going to be held/pushed or shoved at set pieces or corners Which Burge constantly is surely that’s a massive thing at corners and set plays.

Imagine Akinfenwa with gloves on. That naturally instils confidence at set pieces when he looked big between the sticks.

Stockdale is Birmingham's 3rd choice keeper and on 40k per week just a level above us. We're not dining at that table. Today he was calm composed and authoritative but I'd expect nothing less. Burge has faults but that''s why he's league 1 and I've seen a lot of other poor keepers in our leagues this season and last.

You pay peanuts you get monkeys and sadly we do pay peanuts.
If that’s correct and Birminghams( who haven’t been in the Prem for ages) third choice goalie is on £40k a week (that’s 2million a year) football truly is on its way to hell in a hand cart.

Lol 40 k a week. Their first choice won’t be on that!

The £40k pw is an exaggeration, but he was Brighton's first choice keeper, and turned down a new contract with them when they got promoted to sign for Birmingham, so he ain't coming cheap!

There's no way on God's earth Stockdale is the level we'd look at. May as well start bigging up our impending bid for Rashford to replace Chaplin.

Come on G own up you have hated most of our players and all of the managers.
But hey ho wasnt one of them.

I haven’t - you are just making it up due to a curious obsession with a very mediocre keeper

Well he’s 33; almost at the end of the year 2 of 3 year contract, hardly played this year.
He may take a pay cut to a high end league one club with ambition.

Reckon he'll fancy losing £25k a week?

No way in a million years Birmingham city can afford to keep a 3rd choice keeper on that sort of money. He has cost them £1m quid already this year playing with under 18s. Lol.

They would have paid of some of his contract and given him free transfer.

Absolute bollocks.

Yes true but it seems he's been 3rd choice since beginning of season. So if he's on that sort of money ( not for a moment do I think he's on that sort of money).

Why wouldn't you offer him 500k cash. And a Free transfer. So that he can go somewhere and play first team football.

The way I see it if he doesn't get first team football next year. His next contract value plummets as he hasn't first team football for 2 years. Anyway all hypothetical as we don't have a clue what he's on.

if Stockdale is on anything over 2 to 2.5 grand a week he wont be coming here.
We may as well be debating the respective merits over Burge and David De Gea.

Birmingham can still pay a large proportion of his wages if he came here. We paid £7k a week to West Brom to cover Lee Hughes wages when we sold him back

Well... why not? Leeds wanted him at the start of this season - couldn't afford his wages.

Sure, his stock will have dropped a little from that... but not *that* much!
