I remember when the Crows Nest was first built. Was a decent pub, there and the Attleborough Arms. Posy pubs with good looking clientele. (Me)

Times have changed.

Attleborough Arms is like the Holyhead but even more pretentious!

Pen and Wig or nothing. Bilberries at a push.

My point is that my sole focus is having a deal rather than just the legals dropped.

If they get dropped and we get a deal, bonus.

I wouldn't turn my nose up at one without though
Just because my main aim is ccfc, don't let your mates banging on about supporting the legal action trick you. ;) The same as their pretend reasons to boycott they made up.

First and foremost it's about ccfc, that's above legal action.

You can believe what you wish I am really worried about this.
I would not go to Nuneaton the place is an embarrassment I've played at better grounds and I was shit.

It’s sadly the other way around if your Wasps and they hold the cards at the moment

It was last year as well ;)

Baffling people seem to take everything they say at Face Value.

Genuine question cos I haven’t been following properly for a bit. Were we at a natural “break” in the legals last time? Or were we in the middle of it? We’ve had a judgement since then haven’t we?

No I just know that all of a sudden if Wasps say something it must be true and can't be questioned.
But surely it’s an understandable response from them? Personally think it’s arrogant as a club to think that we can still negotiate with them and take them to court at the same time? Just doesn’t add up to me?

We are taking the council to court

Shouldn't wasps be questioned about anything along with the council and obviously sisu?

Let's face it, they have told their fair share of porkies too.

There was a big contradiction between wasps and the council but in the main it's just accepted

1) We’re not taking Wasps to court, they are listed as an interested party.
2) The situation hasn’t changed from last year when a deal was agreed.
3) Companies involved in legal action continue business with each other all the time. Probably the best example of that is Apple and Samsung, have spent years in court involved in multi-billion dollar lawsuits but still do businsss with each other on a day to day basis.

And if a deal isn't agreed? You are basing so much on so little, I wish I had your faith.

1) true in a sense, the case is essentially about whether CCC went through the right process and whether CCC provided State Aid to Wasps. Wasps are directly exposed by the legal action to financial risk or the risk of further legal action. It is not a passing interest in what is happening to CCC it is much more than a looking on to see what happens. OEG/ARVO/SBS&L would have served papers on CCC, Wasps & AEHC ensuring their direct involvement in order to get sight of any papers etc. It would have been OEG/ARVO/SBS&L putting the names of interested parties on the court papers

2) No it hasn't changed from when the last deal was agreed but you missed out the bit that said Wasps made it clear (and in public) at the time of the last deal (early February 2018) that if legal actions continue there will be no new talks on another deal. Many people just assumed they would not follow through on that - so far they have been wrong. The previous deal had no such stipulation, but that previous deal which was in 2014 (for 2 + 2 years) was before Wasps even bought ACL. It was already in place and agreed before JR2 even started . JR1 didn't involve Wasps so didn't directly affect them.

Wasps can choose to make that stipulation and follow it through, just as OEG/ARVO/SBS&L/SISU can choose to continue or instigate court action. It is not just about what is legally correct (both sides are) but both sides of this are making choices for their own reasons and are not prepared to blink.

3) Just as many companies (probably more) refuse to deal with each other when legal action takes place especially smaller companies. Most small companies in my experience refuse to trade further, it is very often the first reaction they have. Large conglomerates are often so intertwined on a global scale they have no choice but to continue to trade together. Wasps and OEG in the scheme of things are small companies and are clearly not that intertwined.

Should they all talk ? of course they should. Will they talk ? very likely no if action progresses beyond the upcoming Supreme Court judgement. Just to be very clear none of that justifies or supports either sides actions - it is what is

I had hoped that the title of this thread was a suggestion about how to get the attention of Sisu by withholding cash for the early bird deals until the last moment. But not having a club or home in the city probably means that there won't be early bird deals anyway.
I had hope that having players on more than one year contracts would signify that we still intended to be trading.
I had hoped we would have been inspired by Port Vale fans demo, the Blackpool example and by some ideas that allowed us to express our frustration/fear without breaking the law yet pushing the boundaries. It seems we don't roll that way and that, as we count down the clock, we are waiting for Wasps/Sisu to blink first.
I had hoped and do hope that the trust are trying to persuade Wasps to extend and that all parties including the Hoffman/Stevens consortium are trying to unblock the impasse.
What I do find strange, bizarre, is that this particular group of fans are devoid of anything resembling anything that it feels we can stand behind. Suggestions:
  1. Buy a big banner stating "down with this sort of thing" , a Tifo like the Sala one at Cardiff to displayed at all games until the end of the season
  2. Crowd funding for billboards around the city and anything else that needed money
  3. Ideas for non game time disruption(I agree that the team shouldn't be hampered by invasions etc...) that fans can get behind
  4. Contacting pro CCFC companies to support initiatives that put the spotlight on other parties than Sisu
I think I am correct in saying that the main Wasps sponsor is Jaguar/Land Rover, a Coventry company since its founding. Who is asking them to back channel with Wasps?

There are some real intelligent and supposedly passionate Sky Blues fans on here but frankly we offer nothing but disdain for our fellow fans and the hope that Wasps will cave in.
I want a club that is viable to support and will back anything that gets us to stay at the Ricoh. Yes I blame Sisu with dishonorable mentions to the others but if the club is to vanish or move to pastures new I want to have done something.

Anybody with me?

Once again oldskyblue58 thanks for sharing your expert knowledge very helpful to myself and many others on here . Quite a few on the forum seem to think that because Wasps blinked first last year they will again I think not . I believe they have already spent a fair sum sending their lawyers to keep an eye on proceedings and decided enough is enough . If like last time we clear off thinking we are Wasps only possible tenants they might get a shock. I do hope they see sense

Would there be any mileage in targeting people like Jaguar to ensure they apply pressure to Wasps? Cant do any harm of course, but how do we go about getting people like that on board? The fact they've always been here, pulled out of sponsoring the ground, never sponsored the City even in the good times and yet do sponsor Wasps, do they even care about us?

Because our good times were probably their bad times. I would suspect they have to be careful in Birmingham with their workforce coming from all clubs but its a fact their HQ is in Coventry and my suggestion is to ads in the local papers/online versions asking them to assist in our message Wasps should be listening to the local population if not the owners.

Well they are moving a lot of jobs abroad so obviously care less about the locals then people like to think.
Maybe then can start promoting Sparta Prague instead.

Yes, if the two hedge funds won’t listen to us, I’m sure an Indian multinational will be falling over themselves.

Billboards/protests/adverts etc only work as awareness raising campaigns. Everyone knows about the situation. No one cares.

A few hundred randos from Cov aren’t about to change the course of a couple of hedge funds. Why would they? What would that tell their investors?

Yes you are correct and as no one cares I will join you in watching the club fold from afar.

Sadly jag are surely going to be on the side of the council/wasps if push came to shove and ccfc wouldn’t be a major consideration to Them

the only way Wasp's will blink is if the City Suppoerters protestation effect their suppoerters on their home match days!

Enjoy it for what it is now. If it folds it folds, there would have been nothing we can do. Are you also mad that I’m not doing a sun dance every night to bring the sun back? Just sitting watching the world in eternal darkness from afar?

Sorry you haven’t hit acceptance yet, still in denial. I was there, it’s better here believe me.

Acceptance? Dancing ? Eternal darkness? No I will probably just go and watch Leicester, get a season ticket and watch the games dispassionately

If we're going down that route than you also have to consider that Wasps said the same prior to agreeing a deal last year. They repeatedly said no deal would be done while legal action was ongoing yet they backed down and did a deal.

The point is its not true just to say there's legal action therefore there's obviously not going to be a deal. Its interesting that Wasps keep using the word 'can't', clearly trying to create a narrative when the more accurate word would be 'won't'. There is absolutely nothing stopping them opening talks and agreeing a deal other than their own decision not to.

I think it will take more than just a few supporters(and that's all I think you will get) a) because more people live outside Coventry than live in and would not bother turning up club or no club and even if you got a few hundred locals do you think rugby fans will worry too much I know most football fans only care about football and only show a passing interest in rugby local or otherwise . As for blinking my guess is Sisu think that way and are in for a shock this time/

chiefdave oldskyblue58 comment on more not dealing with people who are taking legal action affecting them than less is correct and I would not blame them . Why should they talk to our owners? All they have wanted since they have been here is conflict well sooner or later people decide they have had enough and I think that is where Wasps are.

Both sides have made a choice, both sides are entitled to make a choice that suits their own agenda. I seriously doubt both sides will back down this time. Both sides have backed themselves in to their respective corners.

Yes wasps could choose to talk they choose not to. Yes sisu could choose to stop the legals they choose not to. They both have that equal right to do so. There is nothing much that can change closed minds.

Just because something happened last time doesn't mean it will or could this time. I hope someone blinks but I seriously doubt they will.

You would also have to question why both sides are so confident of their own positions. Understanding that could allow levers to be developed to change things. What happens after the lease ends .....
