With the return of Alan Partridge to TV it got me thinking who are my favourite comedy characters of all time ? Breaking it down to a top 10 here's mine.
1. Rigsby -- Rising Damp.
2. Del Boy -- Fools and Horses
3. Fletcher __ Porridge
4. Lucille Ball -- I Love Lucy
5. Basil Fawlty -- Fawlty Towers
6. Swearing Nan -- Catherine Tate Show
7. Trigger -- Fools and Horses
8. Alan Partridge -- Knowing Me, Knowing You
9. Officer Mackay -- Porridge
10. David Brent -- The Office
Not easy picking a favourite ten, as I've got many more.
Any more suggestions ?

Good list. Couldn't pick an order but I like 7 of those (1,4 & 6 being the ones I'd remove). I think instead I'd have Barrowclough (Porridge), Jay (inbetweeners) and Albert Steptoe (Steptoe & Son)

Ah, now Dennis I find the second weakest after Sweet Dee. Charlie, the best, then Mac, then Frank.

I always thought the early series of One Foot in the Grave had a lot of good characters in it.

Amazed Citizen Khan isn’t up there

The character of Citizen Khan was good in the series with all the Fast Show regulars in, but the show it span off into is that horrible prime time style all the channels can't help but make now. Struggling to actually think of the last decent new pre-watershed sitcom.

There's a few mentioned that I would have in my top 10 and I'd have to add in at least a couple out of Hardy bucks.
Surprised no one has put a Phoenix night character in their list yet.
