Fans' group concerned as supporters 'criminalised' for going on to pitches
Strange story - it’s been a criminal offence for ages.

I must admit I did in the 90's against Wimbledon at Selhurst Park along with 8.000 others but wouldn't now to many cameras about!!!Don't go on the pitch. Not difficult is it.

Yeah, it is a bit strange. I've no problem whatsoever with the law on going on the pitch etc as long as it's applied uniformly across all sports.
I do think there is a tendency for middle-class and above to have this cultural stereotype of football fans as uneducated mindless hooligans. You can almost see people's opinion of you go down when you say you're a football fan. But part of that is because of idiots unable to control themselves running onto pitches to celebrate etc (and that's before you get to the actual hooligan stuff like with Villa/Hibs/Arsenal)
Irony is that while I have seen yobbish beviour at football matches some of the things I've seen have been in the middle class games of rugby and cricket, probably because they don't have as near as many restrictions on alcohol in the ground as football. I've seen people being sick and urinating at a rugby game and fights start at the cricket.
Yep, nobody had a problem with Bristol City fans doing it a few years ago when they won the league. You can understand a promotion/league win or last minute escape from relegation but just running for an equaliser in the league is stupid. It'll end up with some sort of fence back and nobody wants that. Also the sort of thing that's slowing down proper safe standing being introduced. That's part the problem, it used to be reserved for special occasions, big results like the one youre on about, people are going on at the drop of a hat now.
