So it seems most still prefer Highfield Rd including me. So where did we all used to sit/stand?
Season ticket in the West Terrace for me. Bang in the middle of the goal-Seat 90 row P which was far enough back under the West Stand above incase it started lashing down.
Which of you old duffers had your blanket and flask in the Main Stand then? :emoji_smiley:

Family stand until about 14, then moved downstairs to the west terrace. We were on the main stand side of things.

Started in the seats in the front of the Main Stand, at pitch level. Moved to the West Stand (Block R Row P seat 13... always stuck in my memory for some reason). Moved again to East Terrace Standing (forward from the scoreboard) Then moved one last time to the West Terrace. Halfway up, with the goal just to my left as I looked.

And the Directors Box when my m8 gave me his second ticket ...felt well superior on those padded seats looking down on the common fans m8

Packed in behind the goal, just lads, mostly teenagers, every week the real tension of a probable attack from the away fans unless we were playing Norwich, Ipswich, QPR or Southampton. Scary sometimes but oddly thrilling. Developed a strong dislike of away fans in the 70s that still lingers today and I’m in my late 50s.

Standing in the west terrace great times , the atmosphere changed as soon as our jimmy had the seats put in destroyed the west end.

When I first started going up (early 90's) the reserve games had the Sky Blue Stand open.

First few games were in the WestStand, then once the East Stand got built had a few season tickets in there. Moved to the West Terrace on the day of that 3-2 opening day win vs Chelsea, and was ever-present there until the end (block 4 or Block 7).

Probably just to the right of you by the sound of things. I used to take my son up when he was 2 and had to hold him all game so he could see.

M&b stand with a massive post that stopped most our attacks

Kop, then West End, then stand above West End, then M&B Stand, then Main Stand.

Basically had a ST everywhere.

Worst was the M&B stand, where I had a restricted view and a pillar right in front of me, obscuring part of one goal.

Grrr.....crappy Highfield Road.

Used to stand on the Kop, graduated to the West End then seat E19 in the new stand, still got it as I bought it when they sold them off

Used to love the reserve games at HR, the printed team sheets, one or two big names coming back from injury when we played the likes of Liverpool. Used to get decent numbers there.

Still think it was a mistake to sack that off and move to U23 games playing when everyone is at work.

I was Sky Blue stand, half way line right at the back of the stand , until they moved the away fans in there, police and stewards kept blocking the view of the West End goal so move to the Main Stand right behind the Directors Box, nice view.

Ended up watching games from everywhere though including the reserve games (Willie Boland's stomping ground, sometimes literally). I have two abiding memories of the west terrace - coming up the stairs for a game against Liverpool and there being a massive flag going over which scared the bejesus out of me, and that game where Dion Dublin scored a hat-trick against Chelsea on the first day of the season we were sat on the very first row on the hottest day I can remember and I came away with my worst ever sunburn. Magic

I started off in the “JSB” Section in the only east stand corner next to the Mitchell and Butler stand.
After relegation I moved to the West Terrace, Row A seat 93 right behind the goal.

All over the place, then Vice-presidents, then when the new bit was built the Ladbrooks then a year in the top tier through glass (shit) before settling on the Ladbrookes stand, although I prefer to watch from the centre line.

Season tickets on Spion Kop, East stand, West terrace, West stand and M&B stand. I've sat/stood on every part of the ground in all it's guises since 1975, except the terraced West End (Only ever walked across it once after a home game against Chelsea when me and a schoolfriend climbed down the ladder from the West stand)
I've even sat on the covered cripple enclosure that was located in front of the sky blue terrace - During the League cup run of 1980/81 some bloke called John Sillett would be sat two or three bods down from me on the bench (gaining a good vantage point to bark out instructions from that side of the pitch) I'll always remember some guy saying 'He'll be the next manager here".
He got it wrong by six years and about three other incumbents, but it finally came true!
Never watched a game from an exec box altho I once had the opportunity but was so lashed from the night/morning before I didn't surface until nearly four in the afternoon.

And I've just remembered. Me and a pal used to sneak down, and sit on the wall by the dugouts and watch the game from there when we were about 13. Don't know how we managed that. But nearly got trampled by Leeds players running away from a pitch invasion once

Much preferred going to games at Highfield Road, always felt more like how going to football should be. I think the atmosphere was never always brilliant there either, it was okay if you were in the West Terrace but anywhere else in the ground it was pretty silent. The Ricoh I liked when it first opened but unlike HR I don't even feel like I'm in Coventry when I go there.

I agree with the 'boring bowl' sentiments but I think it's better looking than those similar stadiums Southampton, Leicester, Middlesborough and Reading.

Mainly sat in the stand above the WT. used to love that view. And waving off the away fans streaming out after a whalloping.
I miss sitting behind a goal where it’s full and full of atmosphere. That for me is what the Ricoh lacks. Should have built a replica ish WT there

Started off in the West End, up against the wall right by the pitch, thinking some of the players were giants. Sat on the edge of the pitch for one "busy" match... Mid teens, in the west end proper, tried to be behind the goal, but that depended on who we were playing, and how many fans they brought. The "jockeying" for position before the game was always "interesting" with the oppo fans..

Moved to the Kop, behind the east end goal, then main stand, sky blue stand, and then west stand when I started taking my son. Stood and sat most everywhere at Highfield Road at one time or another.

Spion Kop the West Terrace and the I got old and moved to the East stand in the corner in the sun - had a concrete wall behind us so we could stand and not block anyone’s view - moved from meeting in the Gland in Hand on FGS to the Dead horse by the Barras chippy - now the gang has disbanded block 20 bah
