I am at the Greater London Authority tomorrow. They have airport style security there - including belts off and frisking when needed if the scanner beeps. I must remember to leave the fruit knife home this time!

I would think everyone should feel a little bit safer knowing other people's bags have been checked.
It's worth a little personal inconvenience.
And even if they dont check every bag, it's surely enough to deter a potential wrongdoer.
I do feel people should be allowed to take in water though.
