Cyber attack on the trust (7 Viewers)

Would be interested to know the IP and how they found it was Kensington specifically.

Nobody who carries out cyber attacks is going to do it using their own IP anyway.

What was actually attacked? Was the site hacked? It says emails were too, what happened with those?

Seems a bit, erm strange.

I'm waiting for the first person to blame SISU for this.

I think we're only just peeling off the layers of this thing, this could go right to the top. In my initial investigations the name Pepe Silvia keeps coming up over and over and over again

They really do need to sense check stuff before it goes out:

We apologise to members and other contacts who may have suffered inconvenience as a result of this incident.

Huh? I thought everything was protected?

However we can reassure members that our website and the survey have been protected due to the safeguards we have in place.

What's the point of this story then? Is it to say that your anti-virus software works? If that's the case, why have you reported it to the police?

Did they post something supporting SISU on their site by mistake ? is this why they think they were hacked ?

It would be interesting to know what actually happened. The website and email system would run on separate services so would be different things.

Was it an unknown login attempt to login to an email account / the website? It's using a pretty common script to power the site so there will be bots all over it trying to do dodgy stuff anyway.

I think the intention with the statement is pretty obvious although it would be interesting to have a few more details about what actually happened and how they came to the conclusion the "attacker" was in Kensington.

Cyber attack the Trust m8 ?

That’s like me buying Chewits instead of Licorice Allsorts and hoping Barratt’s falls in to chaos.

No, scrub that. Barrett’s are relevant and people buy what they produce.

Go and have a word with Carol in HR, she might be able to help you find this Pepe guy.

Genuine question for those that know much more than I. Is there anything that can be done to publicise how the Trust don't actually represent what a vast majority of City fans (I can only speak from my own experience and those I know), think? I'm not saying they don't have the clubs interests at heart etc, I'm sure they do, they put a lot of time into it but they are not good at what they do at all, and are so embaressingly amateur. They don't reflect my views in anyway and I am really disappointed that they are the only real 'presence' that we appear to have. Would the only solution be to set up a 'rival' fan group? It's a little like a fan dictatorship, where it comes across as all Cov fans are represented by them, when there is absolutely no reason for this.

Apparently the joke behind that is that they actually say Pennsylvania but because Charlie is illiterate he thinks it's Pepe Silvia

I am still trying to make out what is going on, it looks as if they are basically trying to say SISU tried to hack them but contradicting themselves. They then try and make out fans have been inconvenienced by it but at the same time nothing actually happened?

If the security software on their server blocked an attempt to access something, what do they think the police are going to do? There will be thousands / millions of entries in server logs with random bots trying to guess passwords, Wordpress logins, Joomla logins, email logins all day every day.

According to Cloudflare, within the last month there has been 310 attacks blocked on here for example. That will mostly be bots trying to hack the forum software or sites trying to scrape information etc.

I can see what the trust were trying to do and I can see it backfiring.

You make some great point's GMLK.

I think Moz (SBTrust Chairman) comes across very well though and CJ too, albeit sometimes a little naive due to others associated with SBTrust, the underlings if you will and their Anti-SISU/Joy/Tim agenda plus Pro-CCC stance.

These folks are undermining the work SBT are trying to do, I believe, and hijacking the whole process due to their hate of SISU.

Distance themselves from cunts like David Johnson and City fans will take them more seriously, including me.

Anyone work in data protection / GDPR? There’s consequences to this sort of thing aren’t there.
