Away days have always been good on the whole. In the 60's and 70's we took thousands to away grounds, especially local derbies.Wolves away was the highlight of the season, we'd be in Wolverhampton hours before kick off. Older fans will know what reception we used to get !

There was Shef Wed away, early December 1995 - Monday night fixture live on Sky.
We had less than 100 for that game. Five of us travelled by car - I reckon that car load alone made up about 1/17th of our entire support.
We lost 4-3 (Dion hat trick) We took the lead three times and capitulated with ease.
I was on jury service that week, when I attended court Tuesday morning I thought I wouldn't get to hear evidence of criminality that week any greater than I'd witnessed Monday Evening.

Just come back from Budapest spent a night drinking with a couple from Bradford.
He is a season ticket holder.
He said we were the best team and best support they had seen all season.
I kmpww it was a good win but he had nothing but praise for us.

I sat in the home end on a freebie that day, decent following for a Tuesday night and definitely made some noise. The noise much better from that side stand as well rather than behind the goal.

Would that be the one you broke up with your questioning of the comb over king whilst I was outside in the car park signing autographs before asking Dion a question that the tabloids used as a back page headline the next day?

With you on this - when it is purely someone who is rat arsed, then it can be embarrassing, but someone singing/shouting (as long as it is not abusive- particularly if kids are about) is fine. Trouble is, I need a couple inside me to launch my 'singing' voice!

I remember going to a second leg league cup match at Wycombe, winter time early 90’s. About 50 city fans in the rain, no bar or food. Took the Mrs for her first away game straight from work and it went to extra time. She’s never been since. I tried to make up for it the following Valentine’s Day by buying her a shirt!! Happy days. She still takes the piss now.

I went to this one and I’m sure there were more than “less than 100” fans. Upstairs in the Leppings Lane stand and it was raining wasn’t it?

That implies die hards don't go to home games which is obviously not true. These die hards appear to sing like buggery away, but at the Ricoh just watch the match. Are they not sitting as a group at home games? We could have really done with some help at Burton and Oxford. As it is I have a dickhead in a hat near me who is the most negative supporter of all time who just shouts abuse at his own players at high volume. I'd love him to be drowned out.....

The naughty corner does try hard to get something going but in a 32k bowl filled to 1/3 capacity you can only do so much.

Sorry mate, didn’t mean to offend. I remember games when our away support has been pitiful over the years (United away in the early 80s springs to mind) but don’t really associate that Sheffield Wednesday game as being too bad. But to be honest, I have difficulty remembering my own name sometimes so you could be right!

I was there for that too that night. Went up on the one and only official club coach that night. Knew a couple of Cov Telegraph Sports Reporters at the time and they’d said they’d counted 132 of us!!!

Noted, I had wondered that and seen as some sort of mitigation. I was mainly provoked by the self-congratulatory tone of SBA posters on here. Bunch of part timers in my view

Ah ta, don't do facebook. Surprised all the same as I didn't see/hear anything and can only assume a bunch of chavs together. Odd though as they didn't throw them so cant really see the point. Warm day and kids who can't handle their beer I'd guess.

Pretty much that yes, all looked like those stupid kids I try to avoid at most away games. It was mostly the back row of seats towards the right.

You get a lot of kids who claim to be in ‘the Legion’. Going from what they say they bottle it if anything will actually kick off

We sat in the stand which wasn't that big granted, but City had half of it, and we also had fans on the terraces. Just looked it up on you tube, and when Phil Babb scores the late goal that puts us through he runs towards our fans and you can see clearly more than 50. It was a miserable night though.

That said I can remember some pretty poor turn outs at the likes of Stamford Bridge and Maine Road of about 150 - 200. I even remember going to Villa Park in the early 80's when our support wasn't much over 1,000.

It was desperation stuff. Think we had a 2 goal lead from the first leg & Bobby Gould was so overconfident he started John Gayle up front, and it started to unfold from there.
