A lot of what is being thrown around in this thread could apply to pretty much every stadium under construction. The new Tottenham Stadium, Wimbledon, Everton, Brentford, Luton etc.

London Stadium is a nightmare to get away from, I got stuck there for nearly 2 hours. No doubt it will be proclaimed 'that's different' for any other stadium.

Fact is you won't find a location that doesn't have challenges. Ridiculous to just dismiss everything out of hand. Lets see some details of how things would be done first.

Got excited for a bit at the thought of a stadium in the city (Good location for me personally). Our own stadium like HR again.(That's my heart talking.)
Now my head has kicked in, I have become very cynical of all parties in this mess. I think in order to convince the EFL to allow a ground share after last time, SISU need to show real signs of action. I think they also need to get more fans behind a groundshare as last time it was a disaster. SISU need to give us more hope than last time and more justification. Unfortunately my head says any talk of a new stadium is for Plan A (The Ricoh). Even if SISU paid a deposit for land, I think they have identified one of the hardest sites to get all the permissions through. I think they are counting on the Council playing right into their hands and delaying everything, which they will probably be stupid enough to do.
I think we will be sharing in Burton or the likes for years to come. I also think JR3 will be about the council not allowing us to build a new stadium.
Sorry if I am far too negative and cynical. If I am putting a dampener on the thread, then I will say no more.

I've just had a look at an aerial picture and think you might be right.
Went there a couple of years ago and we parked in a residential area right next to the ground which was the only bit of it I saw but from the aerial view seems more spacious around the rest of the ground.

I live not far from the Ricoh it is served by a few different bus services from City Centre, Foleshill, Bedworth, Nuneaton, Holbrooks, Keresley, Bell Green, Walsgrave, Clifford Park, Wyken. There’s one bus that goes down Broad Lane from town and I think the number 10 goes down Upper Eastern Green Lane. Then there’s parking, from the Ricoh there is 2 mile exclusion zone that takes you right up to Riley Square, a long walk, a similar scheme at Woodlands would take it back as far as Hearsall, Earlsdon , Allesley, Allesley Park, Canley, the Warwick Uniy area, that’s a bloody long walk and there’s not the number of industrial sites or little private business sites to park as the is around Longford. theres a few near Torrington Avenue but again a good walk.?
Then there’s the nimbys to get over. Any on here old enough to remember the pit that was being talked about to be built behind the then Masseys site in the early 80s ? I worked at MF and I remember the resistance and objections from the locals being huge. Then there’s planning. I know the Ricoh planning went all the way to Government, the Secretary of State, then being John Prescott. I think that’s were the parking stipulation. Could the s.of s. become involved again. Also locally the whole Tory council group voted against planning permission of the Ricoh stadium which eventually squeaked through because two Labour councillors got out of their sick bed to vote
As said earlier I’d welcome a new ground that’s ours and ours alone but can’t see it being on this site.

I've lived in Earlsdon all my life and have no idea where this mythical place is.
There's Ealsdon and next to it are Spon end and Chapelfields.

I’m not sure that the road infrastructure will be something that holds up the application, while it isn’t uncommon for most new Football Stadiums to be built on the outskirts to the City and links to local A-roads and Motorways if the application means regeneration of the local area, with new housing and increase in employment within in the area it’ll be pushed through.

Don't be sorry, I share your negative thoughts. Would love it to be true but IMHO knowing for a year or more that WASPs want the legals dropped, they are covering all bases to convince the EFL they have been trying. Spend a few bob putting out feelers for land. Leaking titbits when its appropriate. I'm having deja vu for some reason. There will be an artists impression soon. Just another tactic to put pressure on the other lot to get a deal at the Ricoh.

Perhaps when all their legal avenuse have run their cause and there are no other options, they might actually build a stadium (or con some partner into building it) but it would not belong to the club anyway. Lets hope the rent for this one is cheaper than the Ricoh.

A super pit is completely different, the implications of it are entirely different and wider ranging. (In the mid 80s I.e. miners strike era they were planning a super pit lol).

Agreed, let’s not forget the EFL want and have confirmed today confirmation as to where we play this August, that should have been the priority announcement today not a wish for stadium in Woodlands in a few years time

I’m pretty sure it’s only the two (Gibraltar and Canterbury) which surely must be on the verge of falling down - in comparison the old hospital was a listed building but they pulled that down for student accommodation.

I forgot that and I think that presents another obstacle. There are sports pitches there which I believe by law have to be replaced.
