Hello all,
Kids were mascots today and they had a great time - club, manager, players and staff were all friendly and pleasant. Special shout out to Chaplin - we'd forgotten our sharpy to sign a t-shirt and he overheard us, so hehe rummag around in his kit bag and lent one. Really put a smile on their faces! As ever, grimmer was great and a pleasure to talk to. Fully recommend this if the opportunity arises next year.
Shame we didn't get the win but certainly securing the long term support!

Club were also excellent with the Bristol rovers fan. Would have cost 400 pounds at their ground but her dad has a friend who is a cov fan rang up sky blues. She had the same experience as the cov mascots (except she met the rovers managers and players), but was given two programmes and the ccfc lunch box. Made to feel welcome and involved - sky blue Sam ensured she joined in photos... Her dad was very impressed with club.

So you have to be a prick to other people who have had a good day / experience? Take him to games then if he would miss it that much.

I am sure the kids who are mascots at Burton or any other groundshare will still love the experience.

From what I remember the club did them at Sixfields.

To a young kid, a good experience with their heroes would be the same whereever.

To a kid, it still would be whereever. The politics don't matter to them, they will be in the changing rooms with their favourite players and be treated like a "mini player" for the day.

You were quick there as I deleted it as soon as I saw Somerset’s reply. I will add my lad is 12 and absolutely understands the politics of not being able to watch his football club in his city. They may be young nick they are not stupid!!

It depends what they are seeing doesn't it? If you want to drum stuff into him and drag him along to pointless sit ins amongst shouty people then he will follow it on, if you just try to keep it about football for him then he will see the football side.

It’s not just about football nick. It’s anout shared experience, memories, generations of families having a joint activity. Don’t be naive. It’s absolutely important to discuss the wider issues with him. I’m not a shouty anti this or anti that but I am a person that believes you take a stand to do all you can to make sure things that are right and proper happen

It's naive to think you taking him to sit ins with a load of ranty people and drumming things into him doesn't have any influence.

My daughter is 9, she has opinions on lots of things and is way more intelligent than her age. If she wanted to go and watch football then she would just come with me.

So if it's physically impossible for you to go but you want to, if it happens then this is the sort of thing you should put to the club as you would be the exact people they should be trying to help with coaches / assistance etc.

Pretty sure it will be the same experience wherever we end up. Might annoy the parents but most kids who get taken to games by the parents aren't going to be concerned about the politics of stadium issues.

Doesn’t completely. I haven’t asked him if he’d want to stop doing parkrun and chess on Saturday and have no time for anything other than football yet. I have a pretty healthy relationship with him and he can speak his mind and give his opinion

Not sure who your kids were Somerset, but I often watch them having a kick about as right in front of us in block 2, if yours had "Louis 6" on his back then you have a player on your hands. Only small but looked really well balanced and good feet, hopefully the academy watch them.

Echo the sentiment too, my daughter loved the experience (as did I).

Nice to see a young lad get his head up and pass too, despite that he was clearly better than most of the others, fingers crossed for you and him to see him turn out for us one day!

Pleased for you and your son. Only negative is that I know Rob and he knows nothing about football (only joking one and all- wish I was 6 again and had my footy playing days ahead of me still!)
