Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. If The Ricoh loses 23 games next season, the casino will take a big financial hit. Conservative estimate off the top of my head £10k per match day. Best part of £250k per annum down. I .would have thought they would have been on at Wasps to get a deal done with us? (I don't think Wasps own the Casino)

They were up ages ago. Ricoh paid an insignificant sum to keep them up for another year. London Wasps can't find an offer anywhere near their valuation as people don't know if they're sponsoring a football ground, which generates much more exposure, or a rugby ground. The club are quite rightly asking for a share of the takings.

If they all average £10 spend (some will be significantly more, some just a pint others may even win occasionally)then say £7,500 in turnover but the profit in that (cost of the beer, extra staff etc) will probably touch £5k so all in I suspect not as significant as you might think. Certainly south of £100k pa I'd say.

If you look at West Ham’s and Spurs new grounds the stadium naming bubble has burst. West Ham especially, the Olympic stadium has had two deals collapse at the last moment and each time they’ve offered it up to the next potential sponsor at a cut price of previous negotiations. Not looked recently but last I read they couldn’t find anyone willing to sponsor at any price, same for Spurs. That’s two of the most modern high profile stadiums in the country and in the capital to boot. Can’t see Wasps getting anything of note for naming with or without CCFC at the Ricoh. Would certainly get more with a long term commitment from the club, something the club should be rewarded for. That’s what’s supposed to be happening with the Olympic stadium anyway, if and when it happens.

think you're massively underestimating what gets spent on gambling.

Would be interesting to know how much of an impact moving our games to Friday or Sunday has on their takings.

Not like they’ll make much from Wasps games as they push for everyone to go to their fan village.

There was no reason it couldn’t have been arranged so fixtures didn’t clash. Other football and rugby clubs manage it. Just Wasps being awkward.

I think your calculations are rather conservative ?! I reckon 500-1000 pre match.....plus over a 1000 post match x at least £10 a head x 25 home matches including cup games would suggest turnover from CCFC footfall at around £1/2 million per season........not to mention away fans who use the hotel and stay overnight and spend more in there. Profit I don't know but staff costs would be minimum wage and there must be a good margin at £5 a pint for that piss in a plastic glass.

I think you're probably right but I don't think Rob has taken full account of what is spent at the tables.

swings and roundabouts as they say, sometimes its absolutely rammed with more than that and yes on other days not so many......still say with gambling/food and high beer prices City and away fans are bunging 1/2 million in there over a season.

Reading most supporters sites they only look forward to coming to to the RICOH(the Souless Bowl) because of the Casino as they very rarely get it anywhere else on their travels and go big time when gambling providing they can afford it! I would say at least 330/400 fans in there Pre-Match and Post match (waiting for traffic to abate)

Ricoh are in a good position with the naming rights and are now probably paying little or nothing, the cost to remove the big lit sign will be quite significant as well as covering the one on the roof, plus somebody has to pay for all the changes to the brown signs.

The second name is far less valuable than the first one as it will still be known as the Ricoh for years and for most companies they wouldn’t want to pay to make all the changes and a fee for a rugby team and the rugby team that is trying to banish the towns football team.

You’re right. It’s owned by Grosvenor Casinos. It’s one of their most profitable.

Been in there many a time before the football to meet up with friends.
I for one dont gamble so spend nothing they probably spend a fiver in the 25p machines lucky if there are about 300 city fans in there mind you Sunderland had a few in there.
Most sit in the bar and listen Billy or what ever his name is and to the team being announced most spend no money gambling.
