Richard Shaw? Playing with pride doesn't mean you have talent. He was an awful defender.

Dennis Wise who wasn't here for long but gave more for the shirt than most of the garbage that have been, and are present so called Cov City pro footballers.
I understand that since relagation there will be a drop in standards/ability but why should there be a drop in passion and a responsibility to play for Coventry City.
I am struggling to name 3?

Keogh, Bigirimana, Clarke and that's just from this season.
One loss and everyone becomes so negative, our players have been trying recently, yesterday's game was the first in a month or so that I've have seen us play without effort

That wasn't the original question though was it? Just "Who has played with pride since relegation". And for what it's worth, I'd have Richard Shaw back ANY day!

Why? he was shite, any body remember that dreadful partnership of Shaw & Williams at the back, when you look back at some of the regulars we had in the prem days, it's a wonder it took us so long to get relegated.

I've only been supporting them since we moved to the Ricoh (coincidence I might add) but, from then I can think of: Bigi, Doyle, Shaw, Morrell, Norwood, Adebola and I'm sure there's more. Our issue has never been passion, just talent!

Skyblue you quote,"our players have been trying recently"........that's the reason we're in this desperate situation!
I am not being rude but this is the reason the standards have dropped, its expected....its only Cov City!
Not good enough.

Andy Morrell was fucking terrible. Although I've never seen Pele score a goal like Andy.

Horacio Carbonari
Sebastian Olszar
Juan Sara
Onandi Lowe
Fabien Debec
Eric Delomeuax

That's all I can fink ov.

It is Shaw and his like that have got us in to the position we now find ourselves. Too many poor players masquerading as footballers.

Dennis wise
Kieran Westwood
Ben Turner
Although we didn't have Wise for long his arrival lifted the team and he played his heart out. As he would in any football shirt, one player who was never in the game for money.
Westwood was our rock between the posts and became the fans favourite very quickly and played well until his contract ran out.
Turner when he wasn't injured was a solid defender who would give any striker problems.

he went to sheffield united on a free and just scored an absolute screamer.

There coming up next season most probably and will score against us knowing City. thought we loaned him? How many players have came to cov and left to do better things, such as:
Scott Dann
Aaron Gunnerson
Ben Turner

and more!

Westwoods a good shout. Anyone else remember a meaningless last game of the season against watford (we got absoloutely hammered) when we conceded he was so pissed off he started kicking the advertising boards in behind the goal? I miss westy....

I would say Westwood but he ran his contract down to get a move to a better team, not what i would say 'playing for the shirt'

D Wise as stated and he had ability but came to us at the very end of his career and still showed them around him what passion and pride was all about,Kieren Westwood very good keeper but played well due to his talent in this division, and turner although a decent centre half would not spring to mind in my top 3.

Wonder if Westwood is regretting his move now he is sat on the bench every match?

He's not regretting his move, he's a professional, who's doubled his wages to step up a level. Albeit he's not playing weekly, but he's young and his prospects are far better where he is.

He did play with pride every week for us though as have many others.

As said before in the thread, though we'd like to blame it on passion, we're not short on that, its been a lack of quality and sense of coordination that have cost us.

Although I think with the squad we've got, passion might just be enough to get us into 21st place. PUSB!

The thing with Westwood was he wanted the no.1 shirt for Ireland and. wanted premier league football which is what he was promised by the shit that is running our club into the ground. We all knew Westwood was going but he continued to play well and that prick Aidy Boothroyd punished him for not signing a new contract and played a loan keeper instead.

He wanted us to win, we all know but he didnt want it enough to stay? he is a talented keeper and kept us going, yeah played for the badge on the front of the shirt but thats it, no love for the club from my point of view.
