The opposite also doesn't work. Villa Park, Villa fans are, or were, sat above the away fans. Not pretty if you're a Midlands club on an away day there.

Yep. I was 14 the day we lost 3-2 in our final prem season and me and my old dear got hit with coins a few times. And what followed in the concourse when both sets of fans managed to get the shutters up will never leave me. Absolute carnage.

Oop Andy Dawson from the Athletico Mince podcast (with Bob Mortimer) is having a right go at Shipley about celebrating Infront of the family stand and the bottles being thrown

Why on earth can’t people behave ?. Enjoy it, really enjoy it, but surely we live in a world where we don’t have to worry about taking a 9 year old to a sporting event from the fear of having all sorts through at them ?

People should Grow up !
So you believe that total bullshit ?

Anyone throwing bottles etc should be banned for life. Not part of any sport or rivalry. Brings shame on the city and club. As for the vast majority of city fans...as always incredible, passionate and loud.
But football wise...what a result and what spirit from the players after being pegged back 3times.

But like Murphys... he’s not bitter
I wonder if he hopes the club get liquidated as well as some of the other sour idiots that follow his team, this "rivalry" is new and has been created by a bunch of old farts who still bear a grudge about a football match that they didn't even play in 42 years ago. No excuse for our idiots throwing stuff down from the upper tear, it's moronic behaviour and seems to be worse when we travel in big numbers. They should be dealt with by the authorities if true, has anything appeared on social media yet as this sort of stuff is almost certainly been recorded on someone's phone.

Reading their forum it seems they campaigned for away fans to be moved up there and since they have been moved this isn't the first time things have been thrown.

I never understand why any fan at any club throws things at players and any fans, it should be stamped out and banning orders issued.
Our fans shouldn’t have done that today, minority or not, same for their fans throwing at Shipley when he scored, can see it on the highlights.
Was a great game and big game today and our players responded wanting this, they have built this atmosphere up over the last few years with hatred and vile comments about our fans and club, fair enough to levy it at Jimmy Hill even though I find it hard to comprehend it against a person who has passed away.
I think the social media comments from them and the clubs tweet before hand about the 3 o’clock kick off helped us

Exactly. This is something they've manufactured, what response did they think they were going to get.

For a club that talked themselves up before the game there's a hell of a lot of moaning now.

Nobody is going to condone trouble but if you spend weeks trying to whip people up don't act all innocent and surprised when something happens.

Also calling an opposition player a "rancid little c**t" for celebrating scoring a goal really makes me question this blokes intelligence. I only listen to the "Mince" for Bob anyway.

That thread on the Sunderland forum keeps going. Getting pretty hysterical now. A Newcastle fan has now piped up to say we're the worst they've seen at SJP after similar incidents at the cup tie a few years back. Claims there were 'thousands' of us hurling bricks after the home fixture. Even a guest appearance from a Swindon fan.

Just so you know , Sunderland fans say Pompey fans attacked women and children too ( strange that ) they also are lying through their teeth about slapping Coventry fans around too .

All in all a bunch of whiny liars, it’s never their fault springs to mind

From what I seen they came looking for trouble and got what was coming to them. They ended up running away in the end. Don’t condone any of the nonsense but what did they expect looking for trouble at the away coaches.

‘They were sold stuff they should have as they intimidated staff’
‘The we’re throwing glass jars’
‘They were attacking women in their 70s’
‘There were thousands throwing rocks at the ricoh’
‘There were missiles raining down all game’
‘The police laughed at people whose children had been hit by bottles’

I don’t doubt a few twats threw stuff and they should be dealt with in the sternest way possible but going overboard like this makes them look like twats.

Anybody there see people chucking stuff?

As I said earlier it’s a load of bollocks. Don’t get me wrong we have a small minority of knob heads that follow our club as does every other team in the country, but some of the shite they are spouting out. Would they be saying the same if they turned it round in the second half and battered us? Would they fuck!

Whining bastards. Take the loss and fuck off back into your hole!

Also it’s funny how none of them have mentioned the shit that they were doing before and after the game calling us scum, offering out kids and singing about jimmy hill

Bottles were definitely thrown down, one sailed over my head. If lads of similar mindset want to have a ‘tiff’ then so be it but bottles can hit anyone and you can’t defend it. Of course it is completely stupid putting any fans above another set of fans - every time I have been to wolves I have witnessed things being thrown down - but those that threw the bottles have let our club down.

Really sad that this seems to have taken the focus off an absolutely stunning game of football, both teams kept the ball on the floor and produced one of the most entertaining matches I have seen. Some great individual displays from sky blues today and MR should be a proud manager tonight.

How did people get so many bottles in? They won't even let you take a plastic bottle top in to the Ricoh but it seems you can wander in at Sunderland carrying glass bottles.

As many have said, out fan base has always had a small minority of dicks, who seem To have let us down again.

Also been a video posted of some guy confronting Dave Boddy at the services, the guy literally knows none of the facts and is having a go. Albeit not being aggressive but on Facebook everybody is congratulating him when in reality he looks a cock.

Beer bottles, purchased at the ground and then taken to seats and thrown. Not glass, plastic but given the height of the 3rd tier a plastic bottle landing on a child’s head could do some damage. It happened - shameful and I can’t defend just because it’s ‘our’ fans.
Very small minority but they have taken the focus on the events on the pitch and that’s a pity.

As pathetic as some of those comments are, for many in football the big story today is West Ham fans on the tram to Old Trafford singing anti-Semitic songs. These moaners from Wearside might be sad and tiresome but they're hardly at the level of cretinousness that's been displayed by these Hammers fans today.
