I’m all for the protests: good to see people of all ages wanting to engage in this. It is only by disruption that people sit up and listen. And if a few people miss their train, plane etc then so be it; you don’t make the world notice by not taking action. Whether it has a lasting impact I am cautious; the establishment will promise and then slowly backtrack. But it may lead to some permanent changes; not as many as the protesters expect or want but some.
The brexit vote showed that the democratic vote is worthless and the establishment carry on with their agenda...so voting for change has been seen to be pointless. History shows the democratic process is a sham when it comes to major changes in policy.

Protesting to "save the planet" is bullshit they are protesting to save the human race (they won't say that because to them their own kind is the enemy) this planet doesn't give to shits about us and could kill all living things off at a whim as it has done before, (via internal or external events). This planet has been many things in it's life, this faze is a mere skid mark on the pants of our worlds history. We will all die due to the effects of overpopulation long before the climate gets us. And then over billions of years, after we are gone it will all start again when another creature emerges from a new primordial soup.

You know what would be productive? If every one of them got a bin bag and filled it with rubbish from the streets and rivers and hedgerows. If every one of them stopped buying bottled water. Stopped driving cars. Stopped watching TV or using a power outlet to charge their phones. But fuck that. Too much like hard work.
