Fan Groups and Season Tickets (5 Viewers)

All the noise recently has been about "not looking to the past" and "getting all parties together to ensure we stay in the city". Now it appears that we will be staying at the Ricoh, for one year at least, are our fan groups prepared to support the club too.

We've changed immeasurably in the last two years from a no hope team destined for league 2 to a young exciting team on the edge of playoffs looking at the Championship. Not only does this team deserve our support but we know that our rental deal restricts income so that ticket sales are more important to us than other teams. As we're late in getting tickets out this year Robin's budget will most likely be heavily influenced by how many season tickets are sold in the early bird stage that is likely to be much shorter.

So, are any of our fan groups prepared to get behind a 'back the boys' campaign? It looks like we've got them in Cov now lets give them them them financial and vocal support in an attempt at actually getting back to a decent level.

We should do, after a decent season this year. Mark Robins getting us playing some good football at the latter stages and the feelgood about a deal it should be everybody on the CCFC bandwagon for season tickets and to support the team.

The optimism from this season and the potential for a deal should mean more ticket sales. I think the fans groups should encourage fans to get involved, but above all CCFC marketing needs to crank it up too.

Using the logic that MR needs the money is there an argument for not having an early bird period this season? But perhaps dropping the overall price a little? Might be a bit controversial though

I think most people do.

The ones who don't seem to and shout the loudest actually support other regimes away from the club more than the football team it's self.

We stay at Ricoh and son and I will definitely renew season tickets. Play elsewhere and we will pick and choose some ‘home’ games.

The problem with Coventry is most people between the ages of 35-65 (a huge portion of the fanbase ) grew up with Coventry city in the top flight year after year .

The reality is a lot of people have no interest in watching 3rd division football in this city , this has always been a bigger problem than the ownership in reality because if we returned to the championship / premiership under sisu they would start going again .

I often wonder if our 34 year stay in the top flight did more harm than good to the fanbase with no real European push and plenty of relegation battles and a lot of mediocrity

Robins and the players deserve 15-20,000 every week , reality is we will average around 11/12000 again

I will be renewing and adding 1 next season at the Ricoh , my youngest daughter finally wants one too

Absolutely. I have said this many times but Wasps wouldn't have been allowed to swan into Newcastle or Liverpool or some other City where the Council, Supporters Trust and the football club's fans would have been so welcoming. It's weird.

You're probably right. Even now after nearly 20 years I still think about many of the Premier league stadiums we used to visit on a regularly basis like it was yesterday. It took a very long time to adjust to the decline but Robins has brought in that feel good factor. He deserves the backing regardless of the shenanigans going on around the club so I will be renewing and hopefully many more from that age bracket will give it another go.

Just hope the perceived good news regarding the stadium is not another false dawn!

That's right. Always thought that. Fine if we are at Wembley or a nice away trip to the Emirates or Old Trafford. The rest of the time they couldn't give a fuck. Neither can the local council though, so it all ties up nicely.

I don't think Coventry deserves a professional football team.

It would be interesting to know how many of our season ticket holders were from outside the city too. I think given a load of us travel, then a chunk in Warwickshire it could be of a city of 330,000 only 1% buy season tickets.

I've never lived in Coventry but have been going since 1972 when I was 7. A lot of my mates are fans and STHs too, all from Leamington, Warwick and surrounding villages.

Well my daughter is hooked. I picked and chose whenever I wanted to go after 24 years a season ticket holder. Now she wants to go every bleeding week! Not missed many games since October and looks like it’s going to continue next season!

Forget "early bird" and simply reduce the price or even offer a buy one get one free deal.

There isn't enough interest in tickets to do that. What was tried before was a tiered scheme whereby the more that were sold the cheaper it became. Guess what happened? Basically no change in season tickets sold. I'd rather keep things as they are than run the risk of reducing MR's budget.

Buy them at whatever price they come out at and support the team.

Honestly I'd advise anybody to get one if it's affordable. I don't go to anywhere near every game but still save loads. Gets you up there when you're not sure and it is good knowing any away games or cup games you're sorted for in advance.

Unfortunately you can't compare CCFC with Bradford.
If Bradford increase attendance they sell more F&B
CCFC get very little benefit from increased ticket sales especially if that is a result of lower prices

This. For years I did as many as I 'could' go to. This year I got a Season Ticket and have missed probably 6 or so games but it has still been great value. Like you said 1) You can miss about 9 or 10 games before you 'lose' money. 2) If we got United or Liverpool away in the FA Cup, you're pretty much guaranteed a tickets 3) if there are games I am feeling a bit 'meh' about before going, it makes me go and I enjoy it (even if we lose) but 4) and most importantly, I feel even more connected with everything around the club as I am invested in it, and I have loved everything about it this year, and will definitely be renewing for next season.

Well we've been entertained so I'd like to think all that had one this season will renew if their personal circumstances allow. Add in a few who were wavering and now seen positive action on and of the pitch with the playing staff and a feel-good factor if they can resolve the Ricoh issue, then I see no good reason why STH shouldn't go from 6/800ist to 8,000+.

I may have misread it, but stadium issues apart I think there is a feelgood factor around the club, with players and staff more connected in the past two seasons than for a long time. They seem happy to engage with the supporters, face to face or on social media and we include a decent share of homegrown or developed talent.
