Sounds like he’s gone. Robins on CWR said he doesn’t know if he’s going to be here or not so wanted to give him a final run out at the Ricoh.

So he changed the whole shape just to get Willis on because he is going to leave?

Yep - sounded like MR thinks he's off, and was giving him a last few minutes in front of the home fans. To be fair, I think Jordan Willis deserves that too - he's given us a lot over the years, including that goal at Wembley !

lets assume that was the reason for bringing him on. No fans knew that so what's the point. he didn't get a send off did he, mearly a polite applause for coming on as a sub during a game

Also he’s off as he didn’t want to sign another contract for us

Can't recall if it was Robins that said, regarding Mason, he just stopped being able to get forward....
Quite conceivable that Robins brought Willis on to go 3 at back and push Shipley out wide... licence to go forward and therefore Sterling on the other side too.
Didn't work out but that kind of thinking does make sense.... Footballing decision also. Can't honestly see Robins solely making the change just to get Willis a game.

Even though he's not departed yet, sounds like he's going to be booed by the SBA when/if we play his new club.
Don't forget that he has been excellent for us over the last few years and will probably hugely increase his wages if he goes to a Championship club. Please don't say that's being disloyal. Everybody on here would do exactly the same particularly with such a short career span.

Once Shipley had moved from central midfield we totally lost our way today strange decision

If that’s the case why didn’t just make a straight swap by bringing Brown on?

If Willis stays, great. If he doesn't, good luck to him. No hard feelings, done his duty with us.

Also don't really think he's too much of a loss as cb is a position we are strong on AND there are 100s out there who can do a job in League 1

Supposedly has an offer from Luton, still considering his options.

Where Willis differs from a lot of L1 centre backs is that he has pace. That's what we'll miss.
Spot on. I always think Hyam or Davies look a lot better with Willis alongside them.
Ps That’s not to say they haven’t done pretty well as a pairing over the last few weeks just Willis pace can sometimes be a get out of jail

Shame to see him go, especially as this is his first proper injury free season (long term knocks anyway).

Shame to see academy products who look like they might make it leave especially for free!

Always rated him as a CB. Never understood why he was played as a RB so much before

A lot of decent centre halves start off at full backs as it’s a less critical position. Jamie carragher being one. Admit though he was never a rb

I feel that certainly Hyam is technically a better centre half, he generally reads the game better and leads the line better. However Willis has that pace to cover his own mistakes and those of his defensive partner or full back. For me Davies is an old fashioned kick anything in front of him kind of defender. We will miss Willis’s pace for sure but we also don’t know what we are getting in this Rose lad and I also felt Morgan Williams equipped himself really well in his cameo against Fleetwood especially up against one of the best forwards in the division.

I might add as well that our distribution out from the back is much better without Willis as both Davies and Hyam are far superior at that.

A likeable homegrown player who’s generally been good value in his time here but another name who will be looked back with rose tinted glasses on. Pace has been his saving grace in his time here which I’m sure many players in his position wish they had.

At his peak of his career now having only really been on the top of his game the last 18 months having grown in L2 which ironed out a huge area of his game that was exposed from time to time in his previous seasons.

If I was him I’d be looking to stay and develop further but can understand if he was to be looking at all options on the table this summer now having the luxury of being able to move on a free.

If I was MR I’d want a early answer and not be waiting the summer to find out his plans.

Think MR 'knows' he's off. Doesn't take long chatting to someone who you are with all the time to pick up on their intentions.

I like JW and I do think he will be a decent Championship defender, permitting he can stay fully fit and have no further injuries.

All the best to him, he's been incredibly loyal to the Club given that his debut was in the Championship and he's stuck with the Club in League One and Two.

I think we will replace JW, Thompson is rated highly as is Drysdale and Williams, not to mention we have Rose coming in from Scotland, Hyam and potentially Davies staying on.
