40 more people, (mainly men, 2 women) arrested in the last month, mainly from across Yorkshire.

Let's hope those found guilty never see daylight again.

Obviously scum and they need locking up. I do wonder about what we’re doing to address the root causes that mean young girls are roaming the streets unsupervised though.

I’d wager anyone who has worked with vulnerable kids knows of loads of similar situations if not quite as bad. I fear we think if we just lock up all the can drivers it’ll be fixed but this stuff happens on a smaller scale with single white British men all the time.

I feel the same about knife crime. Just putting a plaster on it and hoping for the best.

I think you need to come at it from both angles.
Knife crime is an example, treat it as a public health issue as they have done in Scotland with impressive long term results but try and put measures in place which have more instant effect.

That's actually what happened with zero tolerance in New York, the headlines were all about throwing graffiti artist and litterers in jail but it was actually ran in conjunction with long term programs of training and education to take people away from crime.

Where are their parents? I know when there was the documentary the parents knew their kid had issues but couldn't really get much help.

When I was at school in about Year 10 / 11 there were always the girls who would get picked up from school in cars with their boyfriends so it will be going on like that.

To the extent of hanging about takeaways for drugs and beer and getting passed around though, I'd be burning them all down.

I'd hazard a guess that a lot of it is done via social media nowadays too so they can be clamping down.

You might argue it's neve too late to educate, but the country is basically fucked!
