Surely he would be aware of the situation, im sure in the first few questions his agent would want to know where were playing next season

He may not fully understand the seriousness of the situation though as you don't know what info is being fed to these players. If we're saying we're doing our upmost to ensure that CCFC are playing at the Ricoh next season, but there's a risk we'll be playing at X, Y or Z then it's up to the player alone which slice of info they take from that conversation. If we're offering 3 year contacts then surely that's the primary incentive, not where we're playing. Makes me wonder if that's the reason why we're offering such long term contacts.

Thankfully we are addressing an issue that has haunted us far too many seasons. It's about time.

Think MR is laying good foundations as any Decent Manager does (if he is leaving that is! LOL)

Not sure about these two goalies. The sum of the parts may be better than Burge & O'Brien, but the Donny guy does not seem much of an upgrade.

From a Bantams fan:-
"He played the last few games of the season and we didn't lose. Other that those, O'Donnell was first team keeper and he's gone too. Made a few howlers latterly, which is why Wilson got his chance"

Only loss was to us i think when he played

He was in goal against us when we played them in April, does anybody remember how he played?

Conceded 2 i think

He played okay, was the busier out of the two keepers on the pitch that day, both goals he was exposed by decent play from City and intricate passing.

Seemed okay, I do think he will be a 2nd choice keeper to start with.

He says somewhere in his interview "I'm a footballing goalkeeper" - this seems to be why we have signed him. Aled Williams will clearly be implementing a specific style and the scouts will have been looking for the ability to play the ball out etc. How many goalkeepers at this level display this natural skillset, are young enough to be developed, and are available either on a free or very cheaply? - probably not that many.
This looks like Williams giving him a chance at this level because his style of play could be wasted in League 2 downwards as a first choice.
Even if he still doesn't get much game time this could be better for his career now than being first choice at a National League or League 2 club. I hope it works out for him.

Got to go with experience now though for right back surely Robins?? ....

Sorry to say I agree. I was hoping that Marosi was going to be the second choice with better to come.

The proof is in the pudding, but we shouldn't write the lads off before we've seen them line up in City colours.

Obviously that's probably the case. I do think it's weird that we're offering long term contracts to the likes of Wilson though, as realistically can you see him staying here for 3 years? He's nearly 27 and this is his 13th club? I'm not judging the club's recruitment process by the way, as I'm sure if we continue bringing in a similar calibre of player as we have done then we'll be competitive next season. I just think it's irregular, hence why I wonder if there's more to it.

Not much help from a pal who is a Bradford season ticket holder

“To be honest he hardly played. So can't give a fair assessment. Our defence was useless too so he wasn't helped. I don’t think we will miss him, but who knows”

The really important question that needs answering with both our new keepers is, do they clean the bottom of their boots on the goal posts ?

Does anyone else find it slightly disturbing that the new signings all say in their interviews, automaton-like, that they are "buzzing to be joining such a big club". Must seriously piss off the club they have just left! Bradford had something like 16000 season ticket holders. Are we "bigger" than them??

Not overly inspired by either keeper in truth. Honestly thought we'd go for an experienced old head as no. 1. Fear neither are an upgrade on what we had. Hope I'm wrong.

Not great reading but it's hardly the wisest choice investing funds in a No.2. Wilson is obviously just a cheap replacement for LOB. I trust what MR and his backroom staff is trying to do, even if I don't necessarily agree with the contract length.

I wonder what they respond at the interview when they ask "What is your ground like?"

Having moved O'Brien and Burge on, at first glance it looks like we've swapped like for like. However, I trust the recruiting staff and assume they are happy with the two new keepers. I just hope that they are in the Stockdale mould - command the area and are vocal in organising the defence.
