Went last night. You’ve quoted one of my and my wife’s tweets up above so thought I would expand on it. Parked up in Radford so walked 40 mins over to the ground up Burnaby Rd and up past the Cherry Tree. Usual Ricoh walk route. No issues at all, arrived by the Jimmy statue end around 6.20. Some crowds then and there was confusion at the turnstiles as the yellow jacket guys weren’t clear what tickets would work in each gate. Was told to move round - ok no probs. Basically then a pinch point of crowds converging from the “station end” and the Jimmy end. Started off a polite q, then it got a bit of a free for all as more and more people came. It doesn’t help that (I guess) a lot of gig goers not Ricoh regulars, so folk are lost / pissed and the signs are not always clear. If they had allowed all tickets to work at each turnstile that may have helped. At 7.45 they opened an exit and people then just piled in. They didnt check our tickets and it was a free for all. Re toilets , no q at the blokes, as they had changed most / all round to women’s ! Bars all closed at 10pm. I’m not going to comment or rage at the car parks, we’ve all seen them before , sadly probably out of towners getting a shit impression of Cov with the car park etc. But hey if you’ve been to more that one massive event / final / gig in your life who parks at the door anyway! You’re asking for a long wait! Hope to be back in August PUSB

In Ricoh's press release, they say "but with security checks and it being a mid-week date" - WTF does it being midweek have anything to do with it? Do they mean rush hour traffic, perhaps?
I would have thought being a midweek you'd expect a rush of people more than the weekend as people will be coming after work. Were they taken by surprise that it was a Monday?
Chris loves to stick the boot in.
Was a huge mistake pushing him out and replacing him with someone with very little event management experience, let alone experience with football crowds which is very different to other types of event. No wonder he got snapped straight up by a Prem League club.

Time will tell on that one, FP, but the judge regarded it as a significant factor in causing the sudden crush outside the turnstiles (when giving his judgement on the Club Secretary)

Especially when advising people get there for 3 o'clock.... do they not realise people are at work?

Opening a gate and letting people steam in is particularly dangerous, ask anyone who has seen the doors open on a Next sale.

Yep, suppose so, thinking about it! D'oh!

Didn't know Chris worked there before.

It’s in an absolutely dogshit location.
That gypsies put a curse on.

You're right though, near a motorway doesn't mean good access. If we ever got our shit together and built a new ground I'd not shed a tear leaving the Ricoh.

A lot of the Ricoh's appeal to huge touring acts is it's ease of access and central location.

Obviously for fans it's shit but who cares about those peasants.

He was our (CCFC) safety officer from the mid-90s until he was basically forced out by Wasps as they wanted their own person in charge on matchday. He was snapped up by Stoke City, then in the Prem, as their Operations Manager, believe he is still there.

From what I understand when we moved from HR a lot of the stadium staff moved across to being employees of ACL. Seems since Wasps have taken over they have pushed out staff with CCFC connections but their recruitment of replacements hasn't been up to scratch. Very few people there with significant experience in the sector.

There's a big problem coming down the line when the new stadium in Birmingham is knocked up for the Commonwealth Games.

Birmingham is always going to be the preferred option just at the moment the available stadiums aren't that modern. Once there's a nice new stadium that will take a lot of potential custom away from the Ricoh. I wouldn't be surprised if it was managed by the NEC Group which would make it even worse as they already have a very good existing relationship with all the major players.

The only thing the Ricoh had going for it was a good reputation, Wasps seem to be doing their best to ruin that.

The general lack of ability to write the English language is terrible. The amount of shit that you see like too instead of to, awe ful or orfall on social media is astonishing.

What is happening with the education system in this country?
Every time i watch a Youtube clip, there is a fucking advert for Grammarly. Opening line (in American female voice): "Writing's difficult".
NO! It really fucking is NOT - if you went to school and LEARNT
Or you were taught by people who knew about the English language.

Am i getting old?

Not at all. Lazy or ignorant, or just plain thick writing is very annoying - people blaming dyslexia that they don’t even understand the meaning of - let alone have. Brits using Americanised terms is pathetic too. A new trendy thing is people speaking with a risen intonation as if they’re constantly asking a question. Makes me want to cut my ears off.

We do digress. Did anybody go last night?

People who’ve never been to a stadium concert probably.

4 times more people than you’d get at the nec arena for example, therefore shit getting out of car parks. I once waited an hour and a half getting out of there once.

And in terms of location then on that logic the nec is in the wrong place too then, and that’s next to an A road and a busy motorway.

Always people moaning because they don’t know what to expect.

Shock horror massive queues for ladies loos at a concert where 80% of crowd are women....
