Effortlessly the best article ever written on this whole sorry mess.
When I finished reading it, I wanted to punch the air and shout “Coventry City Council, London Wasps, Sky Blue Trust, Jimmy Hill Way, Coventry Telegraph, David Conn, Simon Gilbert and Stuart Linell ...your boys have taken one hell of a beating tonight”
Well done Les. Keep fighting for those of us who are anti-lies, anti-corruption and pro-CCFC

Thought there may be a few left that hate them but reading this thread , I must be last man standing. Go forward to St Andrews and spread the love. I would say that though wouldn’t I Nick. After all I’m a flag waving Wasps season ticket holder.

You can still enjoy the Ricoh at least?

He's got plenty of bottle standing up for the fans in the face of the council and their cronies' constant use of CCFC supporters as pawns in their scheming
David Conn is a political animal, you only have to look at his Twitter account to see what he's all about
He obviously has an agenda against the club and it's fans
Of course SISU are a horrible bunch of greedy business people, just like Wasps' owners, whose main aim is to make money
But if the council is confident they've done nothing wrong why are they using Coventry fans - who they are supposed to represent - as cannon fodder rather than confidently defending their case at the EC when it eventually gets heard

I'm not sure he was far too wrong on Linnell, his sneering patronising of callers who don't share his view is becoming embarrassing, and to work at what should be an impartial organisation he likes to ram his opinion down everyone's throat.
Don't disagree, just thought the Tiananmen square bit was unnecessary and a distraction from his overall argument.

That the feeling around the club?

That the feeling around the club?
Tbh most of our players are very young and the political aspect goes over their heads especially as a lot of them don't come from Coventry so don't know the history of what's led to this
The staff feel it more as generally speaking they are older and many have been around the club during the various twists and turns
The players would prefer to stay at the Ricoh as they know crowds will be smaller at St Andrews but like all of us in our own jobs, they will play wherever they're asked to during the course of their contracts

CW and John Stretton. They couldn't make it more obvious if they tried.
The thing is as more people wise up that its not entirely down to SISU they stand out more and more. They're posting a ridiculous number of tweets everyday going after anyone who says the council or wasps might have some of the blame.

If there tried to be a bit subtle it would probably be more effective.

I remember at the time the consensus opinion of Les wasn't very good. I think collectively we were wrong. At one point think he used to post on here occasionally (would love to see local journalists posting on here more regularly again personally). Have a lot of respect for him for sticking to his guns and following the story through despite the abuse he was (and still is) getting.
Yeah, IIRC he was pretty scathing of SISU until he had a meeting with Joy. Then did a 180 and got a lot of flack for being a turncoat (I dished some out myself, to be fair). There's a fair bit of skulduggery that has transpired re. the council since then. So while he may have had his head filled with Fisher's fantasies, there are probably a lot of truths in there too.

He's always been very vocal against the council, even before we got into this sorry saga. If that is another motive to lean towards SISU, that’s not really a bad thing - glad there is someone in the local media who is willing to put the other side of the argument.

Agreed, coupled with some idiot on Twitter yesterday described Robins statement as like something from Goebbels, The rhetoric is getting a bit hysterical.

Pretty good summary of it all, as far as I'm concerned.

I think the key point in all of this, is that just because you can see fault in the Council and Wasps, doesn't make you pro-SISU. Similarly, having a raging hatred of SISU shouldn't stop you seeing that there are issues beyond just their crap stewardship.

I think I've laboured this point to death now, I'm going to try to forget about it all and just follow the team as much as I can next season...

If Les has been sat on a load of info with no gagging order, guess he's waiting for the right time to release it...

Yawn. Doesn’t really matter how many people constantly say “it’s all (<- look at this word) sides”, there’ll still be bellends here spouting but, but SISU.

Fairly good summary that but again, why so long until it was/is in the public domain?

No mention of the fact Joy said she was never coming back and that Fisher constantly said that ship had sailed , and that plan A was to build a new ground, leaving what , they thought was a stadium no one else wanted , That's what Sisu gambled on, (and lost) , to be fair not even the wildest Sisu hater would have thought the council would have sold Coventry Citys home, to an out of town rugger club thus condemning the club long after Sisu had gone to a point of no return

....and then returned. To the tune of “a pathway to ownership” as the council led them on a merry little dance.

Indeed-he did bring people to task but didn’t really point the finger at Sisu’s/Fishers lies which I found a bit odd.

The irony is all they have is that people are on SISU's payroll. It was the same shit people like PWKH were throwing about years ago and it stands out even more now as they are the ones desperate to not have a word said about CCC / Wasps.

thought that myself, the owners continually trotting out the new ground line should have been questioned especially as it seem listening to Robins that they have given him assurances about it.

That would need him to start questioning statements from SISU, and that's just not his "thing" The whole article was attacking everyone and his dog (no problem with that, apart from his dog...) except for SISU.

He plays the "it's all about CCFC" card, yet he has kept hold of what could have been highly important information, that if disclosed years ago, might have helped our cause... unless he's lying about that of course..

It had gone back to Plan B not so many weeks ago. Plan A was to stay at the Ricoh.

In fact the shifts from Plan A to Plan B of both are remarkably similar to last time, also.

But even if they have the financial resources and intentions to build a stadium, it doesn’t matter a jot unless the council (who, call me a cynic, but seem a little bit hostile to the club) will work with them.
If they build in a neighbouring authority just outside Coventry, (such as Rugby or solihull) they’ll be demonized for not properly bringing the club back to its rightful home.

What I hate about SISU:
They took over the club without a clue of how to run it successfully, and were overly reliant on dodgy Ray Ranson.
They got their priorities all wrong in the first few years.
Northampton.
They say they batter people in court; they clearly don’t.
They, like the other parties involved, have also used the supporters of CCFC as pawns in the war that has unfolded over nearly a decade.
For a number of years, their PR was beyond woeful. They were aloof, arrogant and even contemptuous.
The directors have included utter cretins such as Fisher, Dulieu and Igwe.
Most of their managerial appointments have been shite. Slade, Thornton, Coleman- the list goes on. Robins is a jewel in an otherwise festering cowpat.
They have made promises - particularly regarding a new stadium - that haven’t been fulfilled.

What I like about SISU:
Even taking into account all of the above, they still don’t register as highly on the c**t-o-metre as our disgrace of a council, who, when they lifted their dirty skirt to Wasps and gave them our stadium, fucked the club more than SISU have ever done.

What I don’t like about fans like you:
By directing all your frothy venom exclusively at SISU, you give those fuckers in the council (and Wasps) a free pass. Sorry if that seems divisive. I get why you’re angry with our owners, but I wish our support was more united against all the perpetrators of this mess.
